Position Description
Centre Overview
105 Gibson Centre (105GC) is a faith-based community care centre, established by the Toronto Christian Community Church (TCCC) in 2013. Striving towards equity, belonging and wholeness, our vision is to be good neighbours who provide hope in God, transforming people by building an inclusive, caring and engaged community together with local partners. Our mission is to serve the local and those in need, and to share with them the compassion and hope of Jesus (Luke 4:18, Micah 6:8).
Reporting structure
This is a leadership position, reporting to the Programs and Services Director. Mainly focusing on developing Community Services ministries, this role also carries the expectation to work with TCCC and other 105GC ministries.
Qualifications
Personal Qualifications:
- Subscribe to TCCC’s Tenets of Faith and 105GC’s vision, mission and values. Kingdom-minded, with the best interest of TCCC and 105GC in mind always instead of only focusing on own role and responsibilities.
- Committed and spiritually matured disciple of Christ.
- Proven team leader, builder and coach, and problem solver.
- Passionate in serving people of all ages, ethnicity, culture, background and needs.
- People-oriented, outgoing personality.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and reporting skills. Research skills a plus.
- Responsible, conscientious, positive, logical, organized, visionary, entrepreneurial and pioneering.
- Clear thinker and team player with strong common sense and integrity.
- Flexible and adaptive to changing context, priorities and duties.
- Very fluent in written and oral English. A good command of Cantonese and Mandarin an advantage.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- M. Div. from accredited seminary or equivalent.
- Demonstrated capabilities to apply Biblical and moral principles in real-life situations.
- At least 5 years’ leadership and management experience, directly supervising at least 10 persons.
- Experience in recruiting, motivating and developing staff and volunteers.
- Experience in HR, finance, research, project and general management preferred.
- Experience of working with board of directors an advantage.
- Experience in fundraising and donor relationship an asset.
- Experience in not-for-profit and/or faith-based organizations preferred.
Duties and responsibilities
Direction and Strategy:
- Develop annual strategic plans, goals and budget for responsible ministries and functions according to the Centre’s mission, values, strategic plans and goals.
- Develop operation plans, goals and budget for responsible ministries and functions based on the above.
- Exemplify the Centre’s mission and values (Equity, Belonging, Wholeness), and foster diversity and inclusivity in daily operation, interaction and behaviour.
Communication and Connection:
- Foster good personal and working relationship in responsible teams, and with other 105GC teams.
- Foster good personal and working relationship with TCCC pastors, leaders and congregation.
- Regular meetings with management, responsible teams, other staff and volunteers.
- Always alert to opportunities to promote the Centre and attract additional support (volunteering and donation).
Execution and Management:
- Lead and coach the responsible teams to implement the strategic and operation plans, goals and budget. Identify and bridge gaps proactively.
- Monitor and report progress of above. Alert management of potential issues.
- Maintain close contact with the local community, keep tabs on evolving needs and characteristics, and evaluate plans, goals, programs, events and budget accordingly.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with current and potential partners to further advance the collective impact in the community.
- People management and development. To shepherd the spiritual growth and care for staff, instructors, independent contractors and volunteers.
- Conflict management and resolution.
- Financial management, including keeping expenses within budget and actively looking for income (grants, donations, and funding etc).
- Identify and nurture next-generation leaders.
- Pastoral duties assigned by TCCC management from time to time.
- Other duties assigned by 105GC management from time to time.
- Expected Work Schedule
- The position might be required to work outside of regular office hours.
- Responsible ministries and functions
- Arabic ministry.
- Community classroom.
- Sports ministry.
- Thrift store.
- Volunteer services.
- The above may be modified by 105GC management as context and needs change.
