Position Description
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Evangelical Free Church of Canada (EFCC) Prairie District (PD) board is searching for a full-time, relational servant leader with a passion for local church ministry.
The Superintendent is an ex-officio member of the Prairie District board and is accountable to the board through the chairperson. The Prairie District board is responsible for nurturing the establishment and health of EFCC churches within the Prairie District. They will provide leadership and guidance to Prairie District churches and pastors to help realize and live out the district’s purpose, mission, and vision. They are to adhere to the Prairie District constitution and bylaws and wholeheartedly agree in writing to the guiding documents of the EFCC.

OUR STORY
The Prairie District is composed of 36 churches residing in Saskatchewan and Southern Alberta. Our mission is to cultivate authentic relationships, discern healthy direction, and connect churches and leaders to resources. Our vision is to see healthy, gospel-sharing churches reaching every community in the Prairie District.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Shepherding – Utilize the gifts, abilities, and expertise of the PD board in shepherding PD pastors, churches, boards, and their ministries. Keep current with church trends, resources, and developments which impact local church ministry, encouraging creativity, innovation, and effectiveness towards thriving within their unique contexts.
Connecting – Connect regularly with PD pastors for pastoral care, encouragement, and prayer, developing relationships that facilitate good communication and healthy oversight of PD churches. Provide opportunities for PD churches to connect with each other for support and encouragement; including organizing and executing a yearly conference for PD churches. Connect PD pastors and church leaders to local and national resources and support when they are experiencing challenges in ministry and/or personal difficulties.
Managing – Work with the PD board ensuring that appropriate systems and structures are in place for the effective management and stewardship of resources. This could include assisting PD churches in securing pastors, walking staff through the accreditation process, and/or guiding them through the process of becoming fully functioning member churches of the PD. Work with the PD board to ensure that church plant missionaries and church plants are equipped, encouraged, resourced, and adequately funded.
Representing – Champion the EFCC ethos to local churches, modeling it by nurturing a healthy and cooperative relationship between the PD and EFCC national, while still representing the PD’s vision, mission, and values. Represent the PD at churches, conferences, and EFCC national; sharing stories of how God is working within PD churches.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have at least ten years of experience in church leadership with a degree in a related field preferable
- Must be a member in good standing in an EFCC church and accredited through the EFCC or willing to pursue accreditation within six months of assuming this position
- Must live a life of godly character and personal commitment to proclaim the essential truths of the gospel in a spirit of unity, embracing the Great Command and Great Commission
- Must have a passion to be a shepherd of shepherds and help PD Pastors live and thrive within their calling
- Must have a gifting in communication, teaching, and exhortation
- Must have a growth mind-set and be willing to innovate and try new things for the good of the PD and the advancement of the gospel within local PD communities
- Must embrace a generosity of spirit and kingdom mindedness that gives freedom to joyfully work alongside a variety of believers, some whom there may not be agreement with, in matters outside EFCC’s Statement of Faith
- Must be sensitive to the multi-cultural make-up of Canada and the EFCC
