Our roots stretch back to 1911, when we were founded in Canada as an evangelism and Scripture distribution ministry led by a national membership of volunteers. Over the decades our ministry has broadened to inviting women and men of all vocations to share the gospel with innovative new Scripture resources alongside local church partners. In 2015, ShareWord Global was launched to help expand the work in more regions within Canada and around the world.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As Accounting Clerk, you will be working alongside ShareWord Global’s Finance and Operations team. The ideal candidate for this position thrives within structured processes and managing detail. Directly reporting to the Finance Manager and working on and with the Finance and Operations Team, the Accounting Clerk will be responsible for performing accounts payable, assisting with account receivable /inventory accounting, maintaining appropriate financial documentation. Other responsibilities will include producing job-related reports, helping with annual audit working papers, and other ad hoc duties assigned by the supervisor.

Location: Hybrid (Work from home 3 days + 2 days in office in Guelph, ON)
Reporting to: Finance Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and organize all accounts payable, expense reimbursements, and related payments.
- Coordinate the collection of credit card statements + corresponding documentation, authorizations, and payment of same in a timely manner.
- Maintaining an organized filing system for all appropriate documents.
- Ensure expenses booked both fall within allotted budgets and notify budget managers if budgets are exceeded, and that expenses booked fall within the appropriate months and fiscal years (“timing”).
- Be aware of current trends and regulations impacting the fields of accounting and expertise that you are responsible for.
- Prepare and print cheques, obtaining the appropriate signatures, and mailing them to the recipients.
- Maintain the expense claim system and answer staff inquiries.
Reporting:
- Prepare, analyze and send job-related reports for applicable staff or departments, and financial reports for our membership as required.
- Analyze the AP aging reports to determine liabilities which are approaching payment deadlines; recommend payment amounts.
- Work with external auditors on the annual audit.
- Role Requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and with vendors, and excellent customer service + support.
- Collaborate positively and successfully with colleagues.
- Manage weekly priorities in your role and work well independently.
Experience:
- Completed post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g. Business, Accounting)
- A working knowledge of all Microsoft Office and Apple products (Google Drive, MS Word and Excel).
- Experience with accounting software such is an asset (e.g. Blackbaud NXT- Financial Edge).
- Strong organizational and coordination skills with experience in managing and coordinating details.
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a collaborative, cross-departmental team.
