Director of Student Ministries (20 hours/week)

Westheights Community Church is a growing church community that is looking for someone to lead our student ministry while our Director of Student Ministries is on maternity leave.
This is an opportunity to work in a vibrant faith community, alongside a positive staff team, where we seek to help people develop a faith that is transformational and that can be lived out practically in daily life.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Ministry (80%):
- Plan and implement weekly student ministry programming on Thursday evenings for both Jr High (grades 6-8) and Sr High (grades 9-12) students that combines elements of fun, relationship building and faith formation in cooperation with the Student Ministry volunteer team.
- Plan and implement the Jr High Connect program which happens on the first Sunday of the month during the Sunday worship service in cooperation with the Student Ministry volunteer team.
- Ensure that our students have the opportunity to attend the Be In Christ (BIC) Jr High and Sr High retreats at Camp Kahquah, Magnetawan, ON.
- Plan and implement one special event per semester for each age group during the school year, and two events during the summer.
- Assist with the administration of the Westheights Protection Plan with respect to student ministries.
- Promote and encourage students to participate in the life of Westheights Community Church, outside of age specific programming.
- Provide financial oversight of ministry budgets that is marked by integrity and stewardship.
Other 20%:
- Participate in weekly Church Staff Team Meetings on Tuesdays at 12pm.
- In conversation with the Lead Pastor, attend and assist with other Westheights events and initiatives.
Requirements:
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced by the fruits of the Spirit.
- Personal integrity, a life-long learner, self-motivated, goal-oriented, a team player, flexible.
- Passion for seeing students encounter Jesus and grow as His followers.
- Affirmed leadership abilities.
- Be in agreement with the Be In Christ Church of Canada Core Values and Articles of Faith and Doctrine.
- Effective written and spoken communication skills.
- Familiarity with or willing to learn Planning Center and Google Workspace.
- Current Police Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Willing to attend Sunday services at Westheights at least 50% of the time, regardless of whether you have responsibilities.
Terms of Employment:
- The Director of Student Ministries will be employed by Westheights Community Church, supervised by the Lead Pastor and will be amenable to the leadership of the Be In Christ Church of Canada.
- The position requires work on Sundays and Thursday evenings. The remainder of the schedule will be determined in discussion with the Lead Pastor. The hours worked each week will fluctuate, but the average will be 20 hours/week.
- This position will begin as early as April 14, 2025 and will conclude on June 15, 2026.
- Salary $22-24/hour.
