Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and mission-driven Enterprise & Discipleship Facilitator to help manage and expand a microloan project aimed at building the economic capacity of the Mayan community and empowering them toward self-sustainability. In addition to fostering economic growth, this individual or couple will nurture the spiritual development of program participants, guiding them in their walk as disciples of Christ.
This role, served in partnership with Katalyst World Partners and Kingdom Resources, Belize, offers flexibility for either full-time or part-time service. Candidates may choose to live in Belize or travel periodically from Canada or the USA multiple times per year. The facilitator will work closely with existing program leaders to oversee and grow the microloan project while contributing to the broader impact of community transformation and discipleship.
Key Responsibilities
Microloan Program
- Collaborate with current program leaders to:
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to existing loan recipients.
- Expand the microloan initiative, empowering Mayan Christians to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
- Conduct follow-up visits with loan recipients to encourage sound business practices and ensure the program's long-term success.
Enterprise Development (Optional)
- Explore and initiate new enterprise possibilities and income-generating activities to strengthen the community's self-reliance.
- Partner with local experts to identify market opportunities for community-produced goods, enhancing the economic prospects of participants.
Discipleship and Mentorship
- Actively disciple and mentor individuals in the Mayan community, fostering spiritual growth and encouraging deeper commitment to the local church, both financially and otherwise.
- Build relationships that encourage holistic growth—spiritually, economically, and communally.
Collaboration & Logistics
- Maintain strong working relationships with the local team, including the accountant and other stakeholders, to ensure smooth program operations.
- Travel as needed to key participating villages to provide training, conduct oversight, and engage with the community directly.
Job Requirements:
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Proven ability to develop, initiate, and manage small enterprises, while mentoring others to succeed in their business ventures.
- Active Christian Faith: A growing and vibrant faith in Jesus Christ, coupled with a passion for disciple-making and spiritual mentorship.
- Cultural Adaptability: Experience in, or a willingness to learn, working effectively in cross-cultural settings with the flexibility to adapt to diverse and changing environments.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to mentor, train, and engage with local community members, fostering trust and collaboration.
- Commitment to Service: Willingness to volunteer, either through self-financing or raising financial support. Katalyst World Partners provides fundraising guidance and donor receipting to support candidates in this process.
- Travel and Flexibility: Ability to commit to full-time residency in Belize or travel multiple times per year from Canada or the USA to support the project.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant Experience: Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: microloan management, small business development, or related fields.
- Discipleship and Ministry Background: Previous experience in discipleship or church ministry, particularly in cross-cultural or rural settings, is highly valued.
- Training and Mentorship Skills: Proven ability to train and mentor individuals in effective business management, including maintaining accountability for loans and income-generating ventures.
