Position Description

This is a 12 week, 35 hours/week, paid position lasting from May 26 through August 19, 2025. The successful candidate will ensure the success of our 4 week summer Day Camp program, with a specific focus on developing and managing our Leaders-in-Training (LiT) program. 

What you’ll do:

As LiT Director, you’ll process, train, support, organize, and evaluate the volunteer youth who assist in our four weeks of Day Camp in July and August. That means you’ll:

  • Manage a team of 8-10 youth volunteers (LiTs) per week who will be assisting the camp counselors as they care for our campers. This involves communicating with, leading, team building, scheduling, ensuring quality care and programing, training, and supporting. This includes creating and implementing an evaluation/feedback process for the team.
  • Create and lead a well-organized leadership development program that will include youth with diverse backgrounds from the community and church family.
  • Train youth volunteers (LiTs), in conjunction with the Senior Day Camp Director, to provide safe and proper care and programming for the children. You’ll create and implement a quality leadership training schedule for the LiTs with goals and objectives for them.
  • Work with adult volunteers who have been recruited to help support the camp program as well as liaise with the various coordinators of those teams.
  • Sub in for the Senior Day Camp Director in case she/he needs to be absent for a time or from the facility.
  • 25% of your time will be devoted to assisting the Senior Day Camp Director in planning and administering the Day Camp Program.
  • Do other stuff we might think up at the time.

What you’ll bring:

  • Your faith. We’re looking for someone who is a follower of Jesus whose life reflects the teaching, values and love of Jesus for all people.
  • Your maturity. You need to be between the ages of 18-30 years and have a love for kids and teens.
  • Your servant heart. This is a senior leadership role where success if mostly defined by helping others to do well. You have to be in it for them.
  • Your skills. You need good administrative and relational skills and you need to be able to multi-task.
  • Your commitment. We need you to be available to work full-time for the entire contract period.
  • Your sense of humour. (We’re into fun around here! J)
