Position Description

EastRidge is an evangelical church that welcomes kids, youth and seniors into a great summer program experience. In 2025, EastRidge will focus on 6 weeks of recreational programs for kids, youth and seniors programming.

Our goal is to create engaging and growing camp opportunities for children and youth in the town of Stouffville.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • A Summer Program Staff member will provide assistance to the Camp Director for weekly kids and youth camps and Seniors events at EastRidge Church.
  • EastRidge Church will provide all training and ongoing coaching to the staff and encourage them to develop their gifts and passions as they relate to working with children.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to growing in Christ.
  • Agreement with the statements of faith, vision and values of EastRidge Church.
  • Compassion for program participants and a strong desire to serve them.
  • Experience in serving children and students.
  • Experience and demonstrable skills in directing volunteers.
  • A current police background check.

  • Experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field is an asset.
  • First Aid/CPR training is an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, leads, and implements camp programs.
  • Ensure all Public Health guidelines and best practices are adhered to
  • Provides high-quality and enjoyable experiences for camp participants.
  • Work to adjust goals and approaches to work as programming develops and changes.
  • Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
  • Maintains a schedule for campers.
  • Facilitates and creates lesson plans for daily activities as required.
  • Organizes and leads various small and large group activities.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
  • Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
  • Records and tracks camper’s dietary restrictions/allergies and ensures that the meals/snacks are distributed to them.
  • Mediates any campers’ disputes.
  • Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your charges at all times.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • The Summer Program Staff will be directly accountable to the Camp Director and EastRidge Staff.

SUMMER CONTRACT:

  • 12 weeks – Tuesday, June 25th 2025 to Friday August 22nd 2025
  • 37.5 hrs/week, $18.20/hour
  • Regular Hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm but may change depending on the program of the week. Hours may occasionally also include weekend or evening work.
