Position Description
Hope Church Parry Sound is seeking to hire a Family Ministries Director, a new role which will be instrumental in the continued growth and expansion of Hope Church Parry Sound. The correct candidate with desired qualifications could be affirmed in a Family Ministries Pastoral role from the beginning. For a lesser experienced individual, the role of Family Ministries Pastor would be something to aspire to in the future; beginning in the Director capacity. Our church has just become autonomous in the last year and we are experiencing significant growth in all areas of our congregation. The Family Ministries Director will be given responsibility to oversee three main areas of ministry, consisting of Life Groups, Hope Youth and Hope Kids, while reporting directly to the Lead Pastor, and also to the Board of Elders as requested.

Life Groups
Life Groups is a growing ministry in our church life. Currently there are 10 Life Groups meeting within the church body that are passionate about studying God’s Word, praying for one another, and actively seeking missional opportunities as groups.
The Family Ministries Director would be responsible for the organization and implementation and growth of Life Group ministry within the church as a means of discipleship.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and equipping of Life Group leaders.
- Give direction and oversight to Life Group curriculum & Discipleship Resources.
- Ensure regular support for Leaders in the ministry.
- Coordinate the formation and organization of Life Groups.
- Actively encourage each member within our church to be engaged in a Life Group.
Hope Youth
Hope Youth is a relatively young ministry in our church. However we are now experiencing
approximately 25-30 students each week and this ministry continues to grow.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop a youth ministry strategy that seeks to introduce new students to Christ while strengthening existing youth in their relationship with Him.
- Provide a Youth event one evening per week that regularly consists of teaching, worship as well as engagement and fun.
- Create a culture that compels students to actively engage in the larger corporate mission of Hope Church.
- Recruit, train and motivate teams of leaders.
- Project and manage the annual ministry budget following the Expense Policy guidelines, making purchases as necessary.
- Build relationships and regularly communicate with parents of students.
- Ensure the Youth Ministry or Hope Church aligns with insurance, volunteer requirements and abuse prevention policies.
- Report and collaborate with the Elders concerning ministry philosophy/direction.
- Organize a Winter Camp retreat.
- Seek out potential missions trips and opportunities for Youth to be involved in.
Hope Kids
Family Ministries Director will be responsible for the oversight and facilitation of al aspects of the Hope Kids program at Hope Church Parry Sound.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and ensure a working schedule of volunteers for the HK ministry.
- Serve as primary teacher in the HK ministry
- Prepare and edit lessons (from an approved curriculum); provide resources to HK Teachers.
- Actively recruit and train new HK volunteers.
- Provide ongoing training and encouragement as needed for existing volunteers.
- Follow up and engage with parents of new children.
- Coordinate childcare volunteers for church-wide events (ie: Hope Prays, AGM etc.) as requested.
- Prepare registration & attendance sheets for Sunday as necessary.
- Ensure the HK space is set up and functional for each Sunday Service.
- Ensure volunteers are following Hope Kids Policies and Procedures.
- Provide support/advice for volunteers as needed.
- Implement a once-a-week after school program for children.
Qualifications
Competency:
- Previous experience in a Pastoral role, or an applicant with a bachelor’s degree in theology or biblical studies is preferable but not required.
- Must have demonstrable gifting as a teacher of the Bible.
- Demonstrate strong biblical knowledge and wisdom
- Possess strengths in leadership, management, team building, and communication.
- Must have an ability to work independently but also foster a strong teamwork culture with existing staff.
- Be able to create a consistent discipleship pathway spanning across the 3 ministries of oversight.
Character:
- Must be aspiring to the biblical character qualifications of a pastor/elder (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1).
- Must demonstrate a servant’s heart and be teachable and humble (Mark 10:42-45; Philippians 2:3-7).
- Displays an authentic love for Jesus and people and embodies the qualities of a Spirit-filled life (Matt. 22:37-39; Galatians 5:22-26).
- Exemplifies strong self-motivation and diligence, seeks to be organized, and attentive to detail and excellence in all things.
Chemistry:
- Committed to the local church and active in building community (Acts 2:42-47).
- Must be a team player and demonstrate an ability to relate and work well with the staff team and all volunteer teams under their oversight.
- Should have strong program development and organizational skills consistent with a leadership role; including an ability to work efficiently with volunteer leadership under their oversight.
- Passionate about making disciples of Jesus Christ (of all ages) and be in agreement with the model of discipleship demonstrated within the church.
