WHO WE ARE
Evergreen Heights is a Mennonite Brethren church affiliated with the Ontario Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches provincially and the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches nationally. Our church resonates strongly with Anabaptist values, with a congregation that represents a broad range of denominational backgrounds, unified by our shared commitment to Christ.
The following themes are integral to our teaching and our life together:
- Jesus-Centered Approach to Scripture: We believe God is fully revealed in Jesus, and all Scripture points to Him. Jesus is the lens through which we best understand, interpret, and apply God's word.
- Spirit Empowered Discipleship: Faith is more than belief—it’s about actively following Jesus. Through the Spirit’s transformation, we are transformed and empowered to reflect God’s Kingdom, with Jesus as our Lord, Saviour, and ultimate example.
- Peacemaking: Peace is central to the gospel. In a divided world, we strive to embody Christ’s teachings of non-violence and enemy love, fostering peace within the Church, our communities, and the world.
- Social Justice: In the Kingdom of God, we are called to honour human dignity and care for the marginalized. We seek to experience, express, and extend God’s justice and compassion in the world.
- Simplicity: In a culture driven by excess, we believe that Jesus calls us to simplicity, generosity, and authenticity, focusing on what truly matters in God’s Kingdom.
- Community: We are created for community, growing and serving together in worship, mission, and mutual care. Our church welcomes all, values diverse stories, and celebrates each person’s gifts.
