Position Description
Centre Overview
105 Gibson Centre (105GC) is a faith-based community care centre, established by the Toronto Christian Community Church (TCCC) in 2013. Striving towards equity, belonging and wholeness, our vision is to be good neighbours who provide hope in God, transforming people by building an inclusive, caring and engaged community together with local partners. Our mission is to serve the local and those in need, and to share with them the compassion and hope of Jesus (Luke 4:18, Micah 6:8).
Reporting structure
This is a management position, reporting to the Services Support Director.
Position Summary
The Community Outreach Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and executing outreach strategies that connect 105 Gibson Centre with local communities, donors, stakeholders, and potential partners. The role involves planning and implementing community engagement activities, fostering relationships with key community groups, and ensuring the centre’s mission is effectively communicated to diverse populations.

- Fluent in written and oral English. A good command of Cantonese and Mandarin an advantage.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- Demonstrated capabilities to apply Biblical and moral principles in real-life situations.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications, social work, non-profit management, public relations, or a related field. Relevant experience can substitute for formal education.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in community outreach, public relations, or a related field.
- Experience working in the non-profit sector or with faith-based organizations is a plus.
- Proven track record of successful outreach initiatives and building strong community relationships.
- Experience in Marketing, fundraising and donor relationship is an asset.
- Communication Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate the Christian mission clearly and effectively to a diverse audience.
- Ability to lead group discussions, give presentations, and speak publicly at events.
- Organizational Skills:
- Ability to plan, execute, and evaluate multiple outreach programs and events simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
- Leadership and Teamwork:
- Ability to inspire and manage volunteers, delegating tasks effectively and fostering a collaborative environment.
- A team player with the ability to work closely with staff, volunteers, and community members.
Duties and responsibilities
- Direction and Strategy
- Develop annual strategic plans, goals and budget for responsible departments and functions according to the Centre's mission, values, strategic plans and goals.
- Develop operation plans, goals and budget for responsible departments and functions based on the above.
- Exemplify the Centre's mission and values (Equity, Belonging, Wholeness), and foster diversity and inclusivity in daily operation, interaction and behaviour.
- Management
- Lead and coach the responsible teams to implement the strategic and operation plans, goals and budget. Identify and bridge gaps proactively.
- Monitor and report progress of above. Alert management of potential issues.
- Maintain close contact with the local community, keep tabs on evolving needs and characteristics, and evaluate plans, goals, programs, events and budget accordingly.
- Conflict management and resolution.
- Financial management, including keeping expenses within budget and actively looking for income (grants, donations, and funding etc).
- Regular meetings with management, responsible teams, other staff and volunteers.
- Foster good personal and working relationship in responsible teams, and with other 105GC teams.
- Community Engagement & Relationship Building -
- Develop and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, businesses, donors, and other stakeholders to promote 105GC’s mission, services and programs.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration with local organizations, government agencies, and businesses to further the 105GC’s impact and mission.
- Organize and attend community events, meetings, and forums to represent 105GC.
- Outreach and Services/Programs Promotion -
- Lead and coordinate outreach efforts to increase public awareness of 105GC services, programs and initiatives.
- Create and distribute promotional materials (e.g., flyers, brochures, social media content) to raise awareness about 105GC’s community services and programs.
- Manage the planning and execution of community events, volunteer activities, and informational sessions.
- Promote and recruit participants for 105GC’s programs or services, ensuring diversity and inclusivity in program engagement.
- Communication & Public Relations -
- Develop and implement a comprehensive community outreach and communications strategy that aligns with 105GC’s mission, goals, and target audience.
- Maintain and update 105GC’s social media presence and website with engaging content relevant to community outreach and events.
- Use digital platforms to connect with a wider audience, keeping them engaged with 105GC’s mission and events.
- Monitoring & Reporting
- Track and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach programs and activities, gathering feedback from community participants and stakeholders.
- Prepare reports for management on outreach activities, event outcomes, and community engagement metrics.
- Provide recommendations to improve outreach efforts and increase community involvement.
- Fundraising Support and Partnership Building -
- Support fundraising initiatives by identifying potential donors and partners within the community.
- Assist in planning and executing community-based fundraising events.
- Identify potential donors, partners, and sponsors within the community and cultivate relationships to support the financial sustainability of 105GC.
- Assist in preparing grant proposals and sponsorship packages to support outreach programs.
- Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for community outreach activities and events.
- Ensure that volunteers are effectively integrated into 105GC’s operations and have a positive experience.
- Other duties assigned by 105GC management from time to time.
Working conditions
- Occasional evening and weekend hours are required for community events and outreach activities.
- The position is based primarily at the Centre, with some flexibility for off-site activities and events.
- The position might be required to work outside of regular office hours.
