After a very healthy and productive ministry of 10 years by the previous person, we are praying for our next Youth Pastor at Grace Chapel.

Grace Chapel, is a multi-ethnic and multi-generational church in beautiful, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Grace Chapel is looking for our next high-capacity leader to pastor our growing and vibrant youth ministry. This individual will have a heart for students; providing direction and oversight to both the Junior High and Senior High ministries.

We have been using “Connect, Grow, Serve, & Thrive” to guide us as we move forward together.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Program development and leadership for Grace Chapel’s youth ministry program 30%
  • Relationship building with teens to encourage and disciple them in their spiritual formation. 25%
  • Outreach to teens and families in Grace Chapel’s immigrant-rich multicultural neighbourhood. 20%
  • Administration of Grace Chapel’s youth ministries, including communication, organization and policy compliance. 10%
  • Building a team of volunteers to assist in the youth ministry through the recruiting, mentoring, coaching, and supervision of volunteer leaders.   10%
  • Resourcing to assist and support youth ministry volunteers and families, and to help parents journey with their teens.   5%

Personal Attributes & Requirements:

  • A calling, passion and gifting for youth ministry. 
  • A high capacity, energetic, self-starter that works collaboratively in a multicultural, multi-generational context.
  • Ability to respond to crises and be sensitive to the needs of others, while maintaining a high level of professionalism, confidentiality and a desire to serve.
  • Committed to and models a growing walk with Christ.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • An undergraduate degree or diploma; Bible College / Seminary degree would be an asset.  
  • Experience in pastoral ministry or equivalent—preferably youth ministry/programming.
  • Experience pastoring / coaching / counselling individuals—preferably youth. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain healthy relationships.
  • Demonstrated organizational leadership skills with the ability to coordinate ministry programs and events.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead and motivate teams. 
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to develop and implement a vision and strategic plan.
  • Proficient use of technology, including MS Office, internet, social media, and database.
  • Ability to manage priorities and a ministry budget.
