Yonge Street Mission (YSM) is a vibrant, non-profit Christian organization leading a collective movement to end chronic poverty in Toronto. The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Entrepreneurship Specialist to support participants in achieving their goals along the pathway to meaningful income. Reporting to the Workforce Development Director, this role will implement a support system for entrepreneurs, providing resources and overall care management as they navigate the challenging landscape of entrepreneurship.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement an entrepreneurship support system for participants
  • Research and collate resources to support participants along their entrepreneurship journey
  • Assess participants entrepreneurship readiness, jointly develop goals and action plans and provide high quality entrepreneurship guidance
  • Assist participants with with system navigation and advocacy support to overcome barriers to entrepreneurial success
  • Coordinate the administration of micro-grants, including budget management
  • Network with community agencies and external training resources for training referrals
  • Track data related to program and participant progress and develop relevant reports
  • Support the development of a monitoring and evaluation framework
  • Communicate with Workforce Development Director regularly for coaching and supervision 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education combined with entrepreneurship experience
  • Exceptional communication skills (oral and written); excellent interpersonal, presentation and coaching skills
  • Strong assessment skills and experience working with marginalized communities
  • Experience with group facilitation, counselling and case management activities
  • Excellent time management, information tracking, and prioritization skills
  • Initiative to exercise sharp critical thinking skills and sound judgment to problem solve independently
  • Experience in project budget management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiar with technology-assisted platforms e.g.MS Teams, Zoom, Google Meets
  • Criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search within the past 12 months

Compensation: YSM offers market competitive rates and will pay a starting salary of $54,016.58 for this role, combined with a comprehensive suite of benefits and perks.
