Position Description

Major Purpose

To provide leadership, administrative and practical support for the Jr. Youth & Youth Ministries, in collaboration with the existing Youth Leadership Team.

Key areas

A. Jr Youth & Youth Discipleship

  • Youth are encouraged to discover more about God, and are taught how to follow Jesus
  • Programs are designed and run in line with our Children & Youth Content & Context Structure 
  • Sunday Morning and Midweek programs are organized and running well
  • Youth are provided with opportunities to experience Christian Community with each other

Specific Responsibilities in this key area:

  • Provide administrative and logistical support for programs, events and retreats
  • Plan and facilitate regular leaders’ meetings
  • Communicate regularly with staff, volunteer leaders and families
  • Support curriculum development

B. Parent Support

  • Parents are informed and kept up to date around Youth Ministry at WBC
  • Parents are given opportunities to learn and grow in their parenting skills
  • Parents are challenged to disciple their children and feel supported in that responsibility

Specific Responsibilities in this key area:

  • Communicate regularly with parents (including consent form administration)
  • Initiate and Facilitate Family Discipleship events

C. Serving Opportunities for the wider church family

  • Youth are connecting with the wider church family and intergenerational relationships are encouraged by offering serving opportunities 
  • Volunteers are equipped, supported and encouraged in their role through ongoing teaching, learning and strong administrative support (Quench), allowing them to be present at events and focus their energy on investing in the Youth

Specific Responsibilities in this key area:

  • Recruit, train and support volunteer leaders
  • Provide admin support for the Youth Vision Team, ministry meetings and training days
  • Facilitate “Youth Serve Sundays” and outreach opportunities

Qualifications and Education Requirements

This is a part time role requiring someone gifted in leadership, administration and creativity along with a love for youth and a strong call to serving the LORD in ministry as part of a team.

This is not an entry level position, so preference is given for someone who has completed a college diploma or equivalent or has experience in a ministry setting or a similar work role.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lead, motivate and inspire youth and volunteers
  • Strong Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organizational Skills with attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm and passion for building and maintaining trusting relationships with Youth
  • Interest in teaching and curriculum development is an asset
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, Google Workspace and “Churchteams” (database management) is preferred
