About Rolling Horse
Rolling Horse Community Cycle (RH) is one of two social enterprises which comprises Next Door Social Space (NDSS), the other being Next Door Kitchen (ND). Both social enterprises were founded by Forestview Church Without Walls (FV), and exist to be a means in which the local community can encounter the love of Jesus. RH was founded in 2010 and has been serving the local community through providing affordable bikes, repairs, and free skill development. Rolling Horse is a faith based non-profit Organisation and is the only social enterprise bike shop in the Burlington area. Our main mission at Rolling Horse is to show Jesus’ love through our service to our community.
About Next Door Social Space
Next Door Social Space (NDSS) is a local outreach mission which exists as an expression of Forestview Church Without Walls. NDSS comprises two social enterprises: Rolling Horse Community Cycle (RH) and Next Door Community Kitchen (ND). These two programs foster human connection, promote healthy living, and address social and spiritual challenges for those experiencing varied levels of poverty and marginalization in our community. RH offers affordable bike repairs and sales, while also running community engagement programs. Both RH and ND operate under the leadership of Forestview Church (FV) and receive operational support from the church alongside a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

Rolling Horse Manager (RHM) - Job Description
Forestview Church Without Walls (FV) is seeking a passionate follower of Jesus to manage and oversee the social enterprise, Rolling Horse Community Cycle. The RHM will be responsible for day-to-day operations, community outreach, training & teaching, and some administration. This role requires a blend of passion for bikes and missions, knowledge of retail, and a commitment to social impact.
The RHM plays an essential role in operating the enterprise to not only be a flourishing bike shop but also to be a Christ-centred presence in the community. This person inspires a culture where loving our neighbours is a priority and ensuring that every aspect of RH programming prioritizes affordability and safety.
Position Title: Rolling Horse Manager
Hours: Full-Time
Reports to: NDSS Social Enterprise Manager
Direct Reportees: RH Volunteers, Canada Summer Jobs Staff
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and vacation days.
Workplace: On-site and in the community
Program Site: 650 Plains Rd E Unit 2-3, Burlington, ON, L7T 2E9
Starting Date: April, 2025
Key Responsibilities:
Managing the daily operations of the community bike shop (60%)
- Oversight of bicycle sales, including point of sale system and cash deposits
- Organize volunteers or students to refurbish bicycles
- Receive, prioritize, and monitor bike repairs and inventory
- Ensure shop is tidy, clean, and organized
Planning and organizing community activities (20%)
- Oversight of community repair clinics, awareness events, and the annual Christmas Bike Give-away
- Help plan the annual Tour d’ Aldershot bike ride fundraiser
- Provide regular bike mechanic training to the community with the volunteer assistant manager
Vetting and training volunteers and students (10%)
- Meet with people who are interested in volunteering and vet their suitability
- Interview and supervise students who intern or work at Rolling Horse
- Onboard and train the volunteers and students
Administration (10%)
- Keep record and track progress of meeting missional goals
- Responsible for social media and website updates/maintenance
- Monitor email and phone
- Order parts.
- Report to the Social Enterprise Manager and meet with the Next Door Kitchen Manager on a regular basis.
Key Qualifications
We seek an energetic, bike-loving person who has a positive attitude, a passion for community engagement, social and spiritual impact, is highly organized, decisive, communicates well, and is passionate about investing in people, both at the shop and in the community.
- Strong commitment to the gospel shared and willingness to go into the community.
- Education or experience in business/marketing administration
- Past experience in another bike shop(s) is an asset
- Ability to refurbish and repair bikes and a willingness to learn
- Knowledge and love of bikes; an enthusiasm for cycling; interest in all bike styles and ages, including high and low end
- Ability to teach informally with volunteers and formally in a class setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate with Christ-like love to diverse volunteers, customers, and others.
- Experience working with adults and volunteers in a leadership role.
- Proficient in the use of Google Workplace (Gmail, Docs and Sheets). Willing to learn new software systems.

You have a servant heart and can work effectively with people from multi-faith and/or non-faith backgrounds.
