ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
SIM Canada is part of an international, interdenominational, evangelical mission with over 4,000 global workers serving in more than 70+ countries around the world. POSITION OVERVIEW
SIM Canada receives funds for approximately 200 of the about 500 SIM International projects. The Grant Writer/Project Coordinator position is essential to securing funding to support SIM Canada's initiatives and projects. This includes strengthening current relationships with supporting partners and identifying new giving partners that fit within the values and beliefs of SIM Canada. To achieve this, excellent communication and research skills will be required, along with a strong understanding of faith-based non-profit funding opportunities. The Grant Writer/Project Coordinator will also assist the Project Administrator in overseeing the SIM projects with a vision to develop the project portfolio of SIM Canada both locally and internationally. This includes assisting the project manager in acquiring the appropriate reporting from projects to ensure accountability and compliance with the Canadian Charity laws. Local and overseas travel may be required. The position will be split 50% grant writing, 50% project coordination.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research and identify potential grant and funding opportunities with foundations, corporate funders, churches and other potential partners.
- Write compelling, well-organized grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding requests tailored to each funding partner.
- Develop and maintain a calendar of grant and request deadlines, ensuring timely submissions.
- Develop and strengthen SIM Canada’s relationship with funding partners.
- Strengthen SIM Canada’s relationship with SIM project managers
- Ensure that proposals align with SIM Canada’s mission, vision and values.
- Track grant application outcomes, funding received and reporting deadlines.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating projects' progress and effectiveness and identify areas for improvement to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial documents related to grants and projects.
OUTCOMES
- Increase financial support from funding partners and develop stronger relationships year after year.
- Produce quality reports from project managers and develop a system of reporting structures that are consistent with growth and sustainability.
REPORTING
- The Grant Writer/Project Coordinator reports to the Project Administrator with a dotted line to the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Belief and practice are consistent with a life that showcases the saving and transforming work of Jesus Christ.
- Agreement with SIM Canada’s Statement of Faith and Values (in belief and practice).
- Education in the related fields and or coupled with related experience.
- Appreciate and have a passion for missions (locally and globally).
- Strong understanding of cross-cultural dynamics, particularly in Not-for-profit Christian-based work.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Competency in writing, editing and proofreading skills with the ability to craft compelling narratives. Coupled with Experience with grant-writing processes and donor reporting frameworks.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and an evident ability to handle multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite and other software to enhance reporting.
- Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic team environment.
- Skilled in social media is considered an asset.

- Contracted position for 6 months at 3 days at 22.5 hours per week (there is potential for the role to become full-time)
- Pay scale $21.50 - $25 per hour
