Position Description

This PART TIME (up to 22.5 hours/week) position is working on the delivery truck of Mission Thrift Store Hamilton.  This includes the loading and unloading of goods.  The Delivery Assistant will report to the Store Manager.

Responsibilities

Primary Activities:

• Will assist with the truck and all that entails.
• Practice good Health and Safety in every area. 
• Provide good customer service when dealing with the public.

Secondary Activities:

• Standing and walking for most of the day
• Frequent reaching, bending and stretching
• Lifting and carrying goods
• Some Saturday work may be required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience with retail sales, working with volunteers is preferred.

Knowledge

The Delivery Assistant must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

• Will be able to read store policy and procedures and follow it. 
• Have a working knowledge of WHMIS – have certificate or willing to get it
• Knowledge of proper lifting procedures

Skills

The Delivery Assistant must demonstrate the following skills:

• Ability to multi-task; work in a fast-paced environment with grace and good humor
• Must have a valid (G) Drivers License with clean driving abstract
• Good conflict resolution skills
• Be organized and neat 
• Basic Computer skills to be able to effectively communicate and produce maps for deliveries.
• Time management skills
