Summit Camps is a summer day camp with a focus on developing next generation leaders and guiding them to know and intentionally follow Jesus through camp ministries. Summit Camps is a ministry of Summit Community Church, a growing Church in Richmond Hill with a focus on developing intentional followers of Jesus who are growing in faith, loving in community and serving in mission.

Position Objective

Summit Camps is looking for a high capacity Camper Crew Leaders who are passionate about providing fun, safe & engaging camp experiences that introduce children to Jesus & create opportunities for campers to grow in faith and confidence while developing leadership skills & Biblically based characteristics. Camper Crew Leaders set the tone of the camper experience & lead by example, ensuring their assigned campers receive excellent care, mentorship & encouragement as they attend the Summit Camps 2025 programs & activities. Camper Crew Leaders work with their co-leaders & assigned LITs to engage campers in activities, teach electives, and assist with leading or participating in camp wide games and special days.

Position Details

  • Spring & Summer 2025 Contract Position
  • Frequency: 40 hours weekly
  • Position Period: July 2, 2025 to July 25, 2025

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with co-leaders and LITs to ensure the safety of all campers by taking roll call at activities, monitoring lunch times, and working with the Camp Administrator to update attendance lists throughout the day
  • Collaborating with co-leaders and LITs to provide mutual support while caring for campers or assisting with camper aid
  • Participating in camp skits, music videos, teaching videos, or other videos and media for camp programming & promotional uses
  • Assisting in preparing, organizing, and distributing electives, Bible lessons, or activity materials as needed
  • Leading & teaching a variety of camp activities, electives & wide games
  • Leading assigned areas such as before care, inventory & set up, or check-in zones in the morning
  • Leading assigned areas such as after care, inventory & clean up, or check-out zones in the evening
  • Leading assigned areas such as welcome crew, camper intake, check-in, or prep & set up on registration days each week
  • Welcoming & connecting with campers each day and throughout all camper programs
  • Modeling Christ-like behaviours to assigned campers & LITs
  • Engaging & encouraging campers feeling left out or unsure about participating in activities
  • Leading small crews through questions and interactive activities following their Bible Adventures
  • Assisting in taking inventory of camper resources and managing equipment at all electives, wide games and programs
  • Working with the LIT Crew Leaders to develop opportunities for LITs to lead and grow in their leadership skills throughout camp programs
  • Assisting in the creation & set up of camp decorations, set designs & program areas
  • Assisting with First Aid stations & camper care as needed
  • Reporting any camp hazards or broken equipment to the Camp Administrator, Director of Operations & Tech or NextGen Pastoral Leadership team
  • Assisting with cleaning camp spaces & storing camp equipment properly
  • Take initiative in caring for campers or suggesting modifications & accommodations as needed to the camp leadership team
  • Participating in an environmental care plan including measures & best practices for recycling, compost & food/waste management, as well as grounds clean up & property stewardship
  • Ability to uphold Summit Camps & Summit Community Church’s mission, vision, values, guidelines, code of conduct & team handbook
  • Additional duties & ad-hoc responsibilities may be assigned as objectives are determined
