Position Description

The Gathering Place is a community on a journey to be more like Jesus. The Gathering Place and Revival Centre is an independent evangelical congregation with Pentecostal roots that is seeking an Assistant Pastor. The successful applicant will embody the fruit of the Spirit in their approach to life and ministry. Our church is seeking an applicant with a classical Pentecostal theology. Applicants must apply from within Canada for their resumes will not be processed. Additionally, applicants must be legally allowed to work in Canada.

This Assistant Pastor role is open to persons who are interested in either full or part-time ministerial work.

Ministry competencies sought in this role include:

  • Working in tandem with the Lead Pastor to support the vision of the church. church.
  • Working with Youth and Christian Education in general.
  • Preaching and teaching of the word of God in a manner that is both academic and relatable.
  • Possess a well developed prayer and devotional life. life.
  • Personal outreach and care abilities for a congregation hailing from all backgrounds.
  • Community outreach and care abilities for a church situated in a disadvantaged area.

Desired personal characteristics include:

  • A certificate, diploma or degree from an accredited Bible College or seminary.
  • Please provide evidence of proven experience in ministry, including not fewer than two videos of recent messages the candidate has delivered, a list of all prior locations of ministry work, paid or volunteer, with freedom for The Gathering Place to contact each one.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an approachable, non-hierarchical style of ministry is the preferred style of approach toward congregants.
  • Possessing both a physical and skill capacity to deal with building issues as they arise is advantageous but not necessary.
  • Humility, honesty, and integrity as central personal characteristics, including the ability to adapt to the local church culture in an attitude of service rather than celebrity-seeking.
  • Demonstrating and ongoing commitment to professional development and to staying on top of current credible trends in faith and culture, including a demonstrated awareness of the harms of abusive leadership styles and teachings.
