Position Description

The Financial Administrator is responsible for maintaining financial records for the church, ensuring compliance with Church policies. This role includes managing the day-to-day financial transactions, preparing reports, and supporting the church's ministries and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record all financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks
  • Maintain general ledger, reconcile bank accounts, and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Process accounts receivable, offerings and program registration fees
  • Process accounts payable, including payment to suppliers and reimbursements and record the related HST rebates receivable
  • Record fix assets and prepare related depreciation expense
  • Maintain the membership and offerings databases and help prepare charity tax receipts 
  • Conduct monthly financial closing processes and prepare quarterly financial reports
  • Support external auditors by preparing reports and analyses as required
  • May assign other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization / Church

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in a nonprofit or church setting
  • Proficiency in using QuickBooks and Microsoft Office software 
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping and basic accounting principles
  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial regulations and fund accounting preferred
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with integrity
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit
  • Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin
  • Ability to embrace changes and learn new processes, tools or responsibilities as required

Working Conditions:

  • Collaborates closely with Church Treasurer / Finance Head
