Position Description
We are seeking a dedicated and visionary leader to serve as our Children, Youth, and Families Director, focusing on inspiring renewal, fostering creativity, and extending invitations to deepen faith, build community, and grow participation among children, youth, and families within our congregation. This part-time (20 hours/week) position will play a key role in living out KUC's Call to make a better world, nurturing relationships, and developing programs that reflect our shared mission.

Children’s Ministry (Ages 0-12):
- Lead programs that nurture faith and foster a sense of belonging, such as Sunday School, Bible lessons, and family worship experiences.
- Support families in renewing their connection to God and each other through spiritual guidance and resources.
- Encourage intergenerational relationships by involving children in broader church life.
Youth Ministry (Ages 13-18):
- Provide mentorship and leadership opportunities that inspire spiritual renewal in young people.
- Facilitate youth-led services, retreats, and reflective practices to deepen their connection to faith.
- Strengthen youth relationships with peers, mentors, and the broader congregation.
Create: Innovate New Opportunities for Engagement
- Design and implement creative, faith-based programming for children, youth, and families that addresses contemporary challenges and interests.
- Develop family-oriented events that are engaging, fun, and spiritually enriching, such as game nights, service projects, or outdoor worship experiences.
- Collaborate with church leadership and volunteers to innovate ministry efforts that align with our Church's Call and values.
- Use multimedia tools, storytelling, and other engaging approaches to make programs accessible and exciting for a diverse audience.
Invite: Welcome and Grow Community Participation
- Extend a warm and inclusive invitation to children, youth, and families, encouraging them to join and actively participate in church life.
- Develop outreach programs that connect with families in the broader community, welcoming them to explore faith and find a spiritual home.
- Encourage youth and families to invite their friends and peers to church events, fostering a growing and vibrant community.
- Ensure all programming is open, welcoming, and accessible to individuals of all backgrounds and abilities.
Qualifications:
- Solid grounding in Christian spiritual understanding and the Bible, with the ability to translate and communicate these teachings to children and youth in an engaging and accessible way.
- Proven experience working with children, youth, and families in a church or community setting, with a passion for nurturing their spiritual development.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with a wide range of individuals and build a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple programs, plan events, and collaborate with staff and volunteers.
- Ability to be part of a collaborative team committed to our Church’s Call, while also being able to work independently with initiative.
- A background in education, youth work, or a related field is preferred.
Work Schedule & Benefits:
- Hours: 20 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend events.
- Onsite Requirements: To be available on site each Sunday from 9:00 - 12:00.
- Attend monthly in-person staff meetings in church (frequency as arranged by the Minister).
- Spend a minimum of 5 hours in the church in order to promote congeniality while building strong working relationships with the Minister, Office Administrator, and Director of Music
- Salary & Benefits: $34,889.00 plus benefits (EI, CPP, and Vacation pay)
