Niagara Falls, Ontario , L2E 1X9
Phone: 289-302-3040

Position Description

“Love God. Love People. Be Discipled. Disciple Others”

The Character Piece:

“You can train skills but you can't train character"

While skills are important, we value character more. The Gate Church staff consist of believers who are sincerely passionate about our mission and ministry. They are a people who are worthy of one’s trust. The assignments go beyond mere jobs but rather, these are opportunities to to honour God in their work. We hold dear the verse which encourages us to,

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters…”.
--Colossians 3:23.

So what we do, we seek to do well. Who we are reflects how we see God. A quote from the book, The Reformed Pastor (Richard Baxter) which was originally written in 1656 reflects how we feel about our character. Baxter writes,

"Therefore, first take heed unto yourselves so that you will be that which you persuade your hearers to be, believe that which you persuade them daily to believe, and have heartily accepted that Christ and Spirit whom you offer unto others."

Some Things Are Learned:

Attitude of Christ. (Philippians 2:5-11)

John Maxwell once said, “The sum of all your thoughts comprises your overall attitude.”

As Gate Staff we believe it is essential to be filling our minds with God’s thoughts. This mean a daily discipline of reading His Word, speaking and listening to the Lord in prayer, is expected and encouraged.

Skills Are Still Important:

Our Next Generation Pastor will need to have the skills of an entrepreneur more than that of a manager. That is, they will be able to initiate and generate ministry instead of managing an already established one. Unfortunately our last Next Generation Pastor passed away unexpectedly. While we have tried to keep the momentum going since his death, we feel the next person on the role will be having to begin building this ministry again.
