About Oasis
Oasis Youth Care Programs is a Christian non-profit that supports youth (ages 18–29) at risk of or experiencing homelessness in the Halton and Peel regions. At our transitional residence, The Oasis House, we provide safe housing, life skills development, and mentorship rooted in compassion, structure, and faith-based care.
About the Role
We are seeking a Transition Youth Support Worker to provide hands-on support and structure to youth in our transitional housing program. You’ll be a steady, encouraging presence—helping youth build practical skills, engage in community, and pursue personal goals in a safe and empowering setting.
This role is ideal for someone who values structure, empathy, and relational presence, and sees this work not just as a job, but a calling.
- Location: Halton Region, ON (In-Person)
- Employment Type: Part-Time (20+ hours/week)
- Salary: $19/hour
- Term: 6-month contract with potential for extension
Key Responsibilities
Resident Support & Supervision
- Provide daily support, structure, and encouragement to residents at The Oasis House
- Welcome and orient new residents; assist with intakes and redirection as needed
- Uphold house rules with compassion, and interact with youth using trauma-informed, youth-centered care
Housing & Safety Oversight
- Ensure residents’ physical and emotional safety; respond to crises and complete incident reports
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and address basic home maintenance needs
- Promote a respectful, stable, and healthy living environment
Life Skills Development & Mentorship
- Support youth in building practical life skills (e.g., budgeting, cooking, job readiness)
- Assist residents in pursuing personal goals related to education, employment, and housing
- Build trusting, supportive relationships and encourage spiritual growth and personal reflection
Programming & Community Engagement
- Plan and lead group activities that foster connection, growth, and community
- Partner with external service providers (e.g., caseworkers, therapists, clergy) to support youth holistically
- Encourage engagement in peer groups, local events, and faith-informed activities
Documentation & Team Collaboration
- Maintain accurate case notes, incident reports, and support documentation
- Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and program planning
- Contribute to program-wide strategies and a collaborative, mission-aligned team culture
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Child & Youth Work, Social Work, or a related field
- Experience in residential, housing, or youth support settings (practicum or direct)
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and strength-based approaches
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Available for flexible shifts including evenings and weekends
- Ability to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check
- Proficient with basic documentation and computer use
Assets
- Lived experience with housing insecurity, foster care, or related systems
- Certification in CPI, First Aid/CPR, or Mental Health First Aid
- Experience or comfort working in a faith-based environment
