Job Description

The Vision Ministry Coordinator will lead and fully manage this transformative initiative to meet the optical health needs of under-resourced communities while fostering connections between local churches and ministries and the communities they serve. This role, serving under the umbrella of Katalyst World Partners, will operate as an independent department with the coordinator taking initiative and responsibility for all aspects of the ministry, including planning, execution, and growth. The ministry aims to glorify God through word and deed by providing vision assessments and used prescription glasses, reading glasses, sunglasses, and safety glasses as indicated. This practical ministry provides a perfect segue to present the Gospel.

This position offers flexibility for either part-time or full-time service, with opportunities to operate remotely from North America and travel internationally to deliver services. Katalyst World Partners will provide initial equipment, supplies, coaching, and connections with global ministry partners to support ongoing ministry capacity development. The outgoing ministry leaders will be available for orientation and guidance to ensure a smooth transition.

Key Responsibilities

Glasses Ministry Operations

  • Take full initiative and responsibility for all aspects of the Vision Ministry, including strategic planning, program development, and operational management as an independent department under Katalyst World Partners.
  • Collaborate with Katalyst World Partners to manage equipment and supplies for effective ministry delivery.
  • Develop and support volunteer teams to prepare for overseas ministry
  • Travel internationally to establish and maintain partnerships with national ministry leaders to deliver optical services and foster community connections with local churches and/or ministries
  • Conduct prescription assessments and distribute glasses used prescription glasses, reading glasses, sunglasses, and safety glasses to under-resourced and/or remote communities.
  • Maintain associated ministry website

Discipleship and Community Engagement

  • Build relationships with community members to share the Gospel of Christ and encourage spiritual growth through word and deed.
  • Partner with churches and ministries around the world to integrate optical care with disciple-making efforts.
  • Identify and explore opportunities to expand the ministry’s reach through new partnerships with like-minded organizations.

Collaboration and Logistics

  • Work closely with Katalyst World Partners and national ministry leaders to ensure smooth program operations.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to Katalyst leadership on ministry progress, outcomes, and partnership development.

Job Requirements:

  • Christian Faith: A vibrant and growing faith in Jesus Christ, with a passion for disciple-making and serving under-resourced communities.
  • Initiative: Self-motivated, proactive, and able to take ownership of the ministry with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to Detail: Able to manage logistics, equipment, communication, and trip planning with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Commitment to Service: Initiative and willingness to volunteer time and/or raise financial support for travel, ministry, and personal expenses. Katalyst World Partners provides fundraising guidance and donor receipting.
  • Cultural Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural settings, with a willingness to learn and adapt to diverse environments.
  • Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel internationally multiple times per year to deliver services and build partnerships.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building skills to engage with communities, national leaders, ministry partners and team members.
  • Background Checks: Satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education or Experience in optical health delivery is not a requirement.
  • Experience in optical care, healthcare, or related fields would be an asset.
  • Previous experience in cross-cultural ministry or community outreach.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate a team, fostering collaboration and shared vision.

Compensation

This is a voluntary position. Candidates must be able to support themselves financially and/or raise external support to cover ministry expenses. Katalyst World Partners offers support through donor receipting for fundraising in the USA and Canada, as well as access to a fundraising coach.
