Live-in Caregiver (Volunteer Role)
Live-in Caregiver (Volunteer Role)
Vancouver, British Columbia , V5V 3P1
Position Description
The Nest Maternity Home provides safe housing for vulnerable pregnant women and their newborns. We can accommodate up to four mothers and their first babies until the child’s first birthday. The home is located in Vancouver.
Most of our residents are independent adult women, but some new moms may occasionally need extra support as they adjust to motherhood. Residents come and go freely with their own keys; some return to work as early as two months postpartum.
We are seeking mature, single Christian women to join our volunteer team, living in community with the residents. In exchange for a commitment of one to two years (where possible), volunteers receive free room and board. Each caregiver has her own bedroom and a shared bathroom; the rest of the house is shared space.
Caregivers contribute about 15–20 hours per week, depending on residents’ needs. Duties include overseeing house routines, grocery shopping, ensuring the chore schedule is followed, occasionally arranging group meals, and helping foster a safe, caring, and respectful environment.
Professional and peer counselling is provided off-site; The Nest is simply a stable, supportive home as women prepare for independent living as mothers.
Interested candidates can submit a CV and cover letter to Liezl Vander Woude at liezl@optionscentre.ca .
Preferred start date is August. This position will remain open until a suitable and caring candidate is found.
The NEST Maternity Home is an outreach of the Christian Advocacy Society (CAS). CAS is a faith-based charity offering compassionate support, resources, and education for women experiencing unexpected pregnancy, post abortion stress, domestic abuse, and sexual assault. All of our peer counselling services are provided free of charge.
