Purpose:  The Associate Pastor will serve as a spiritual leader who helps shape the heart of our community life. In partnership with the Co-Lead Pastors, this individual will create space for people to encounter Jesus in authentic ways.  With a heart for pastoral care, spiritual formation, and a commitment to the life of the church, this role plays a vital part in making Christ-centered experiences that inspires transformation and ongoing discipleship. The Associate Pastor will help foster a culture where people of all generations feel seen, supported, and drawn closer to God in everyday life.

Reporting Function:  Reports to Co-Lead Pastors

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

• Spiritual Maturity, heart for God and exemplary Christian witness demonstrated through godly conduct in personal and professional life.
• Completion of a Bible College or Seminary degree.
• Already credentialed with the Be In Christ Church of Canada, or agreeable to become credentialed within the first year of employment.
• Previous pastoral experience and/or worship leadership experience.
• Alignment with the Purpose, Vision, and Values of the Wainfleet BIC Church and those of the Be In Christ Church of Canada’s as expressed in The Handbook on Faith & Lifehttps://beinchrist.ca/handbook-faith-life/ and The Pastoral Way https://pastoralway.com
• Evidence of gifting in the areas of pastoral care, preaching and leadership.
• A passion to see Christ formed in people.
• A team player with strong relational and communication skills.
• Administrative and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• In partnership and coordination with the Lead pastors provide pastoral care to shut-ins, the elderly, convalescing and others facing crisis.
• Participate in the preaching ministry of the church under the direction of the Lead pastors.
• Strengthen community by active participation in the Life Group ministry of our church, participating at weddings, funerals, baby dedications and baptisms as requested and as opportunities are available.
• Coordination of Church-wide family events throughout the year.
• Other areas of ministry as assigned by the Co-Lead pastors.
• Abide by the policies and requirements of the WBIC Church Employee Handbook.

Terms of Employment:

The Associate Pastor will be employed by Wainfleet BIC Church, supervised by the Co-Lead Pastors and will be amenable to the leadership of the Be In Christ Church of Canada. The position requires work on Sundays, some evenings, and regular mid-week office hours which will be determined in discussion with the Lead Pastors. The hours worked each week will fluctuate, but the average will be 20 hours/week.

Remuneration:

• This position is permanent, half-time, based on 20 hours per week.
