Position Description

Context

Sanctus Church’s vision is to become a regional church of 10,000 meeting the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of people in Jesus name. The following staff position is critical in helping our church execute on the fulfillment of that vision.

Role

This full time, Youth Pastor position is focused on establishing a healthy and vibrant Sr. Youth (Gr 9-12) ministry across all sites centered around relational discipleship and featuring, weekly small group gatherings, monthly central youth services, and Youth Alpha in high schools.

  • Reports to: Family Ministries Pastor
  • Direct Reports: None

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in theology or equivalent
  • 2+ years of vocational experience in youth ministry or equivalent
  • A proven track record of developing volunteer teams
  • Experience running Alpha

Responsibilities

  • Crews
    • Work in partnership with the Family Ministries Pastor and Site Pastors to establish and grow weekly small group gatherings at every site
    • Provide direct oversight for the Ajax small group hub on Thursday evenings
    • Develop and integrate strategies, tools, and resources for leaders including those from Orange
    • Select, contextualize, prep, and distribute Orange curriculum content for all Sr. Youth small groups
    • Recruit, manage, develop, and appreciate teams of volunteer Sr. Youth small group leaders across all sites.
  • Rally nights
    • Plan and execute monthly, centrally driven, Sr. Youth nights featuring exciting social elements and an engaging youth service
    • Work in partnership with Communications department to creatively promote monthly gatherings to youth across our region
    • Cultivate a partnership with worship department to provide contextualized musical worship at monthly gatherings
    • Develop the preaching calendar and hold a primary teaching position for Sr. Youth
    • Recruit, manage, develop, and appreciate a team of volunteer leaders who help execute the events
  • Alpha
    • Working with students and Site Pastors, implement Youth Alpha at several high schools across the region
    • Oversee the recruitment, training and coaching of student leaders
    • Plan and implement an annual Youth Alpha retreat
  • Other duties
    • Provide support to Sunday programming staff on an as needed basis
    • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with Family Ministries Team, Family Ministries Pastor, Site Pastors and All Staff
