Position Description

  • Job Category: Children, Youth, and Outreach Ministry
  • Employment Type: Full-time (30 hours a week: Monday to Thursday, some Friday & Saturdays)
  • Number of Openings: 2
  • Start and End Dates: June 28 – August 30, 2021

Glencairn Church is looking for two youth and/or young adults to offer leadership and oversight to the children’s, youth, and administration ministries both in-person and online while also experiencing leadership development.


  • Youth Ministry (5 hrs per week)
    • Plan, prepare, and lead games/activities
    • Connect with youth and develop relationships
    • Prepare and manage advertisement for youth and parents
  • Vacation Bible Camp (20 hrs in July; dependent on restrictions)
    • Work with the VBC team in developing the program
    • Help plan, organize, and set up event(s) for children in the community for a week of fun and learning
  • Children’s Ministry (15 hrs per week)
    • Lead, teach, record, and edit weekly children’s summer programs for Sunday mornings
    • Work with other leaders/helpers to plan and run program(s)
    • Plan and create 5-10 minute mid-week videos for children, including lessons and other activities
  • Bridges (5 hrs per week; dependent on restrictions)
    • Participate in bi-monthly food and clothing bank for families in need
    • Collect and sorting food on shelves, and help with distribution
  • Administration (5-10 hrs per week)
    • ​Support the church administrator to accomplish tasks such as updating online content on social media and other platforms, website and database management, and programming registration
  • Other Tasks (5-10 hrs per week)
    • Depending on interests and need, other tasks could be considered that would support different church ministries
    • Possible support with the Church in Community team and other events

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Born again, baptized believer
  • Must embrace the Confession of Faith of the Mennonite Brethren Church
  • Open and willing to learn
  • Experience working with children and youth in a ministry context
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and teams of volunteers
  • Experience in helping organizing events
  • Experience with audio and video editing is an asset
  • Proficient with technology, including Zoom and other recording software


Payment: Hourly wage (30 hours per week at minimum wage)
