Position Description

Auburn Bible Chapel, an independent evangelical church in Peterborough Ontario, is prayerfully seeking and preparing for a Lead Pastor to work with the Auburn family to invite people to know God personally and participate in His plan to rescue the world from sin through His Son, Jesus.

The preferred candidate will have a mature and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and will have a love for people. He will have a vision for local Evangelism/Outreach, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and equip others. As part of the Auburn family the Lead Pastor will fully embrace our mission, vision, values, and statement of faith.

The main aspects of this position include Ministry Leadership, Congregational Leadership, Staff Leadership and working with our Team of Elders. Our church family includes approximately 70-100 people on a Sunday morning.

We are looking for a pastor/leader who has a demonstrated commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ over his public and private life. We believe in servant leadership and are looking for a candidate who has an ability to inspire others and think strategically. The Lead Pastor will be a gifted and sound preacher/teacher who can oversee our pulpit ministry and prepare and preach approximately 34 Sundays throughout each year. The successful candidate will be able to inspire the Auburn family to live out our vision and cultivate a missional mindset.

We recognize that the role of Pastor does not neatly fit into a 9-5 world and yet value a balanced approach to ministry which allows protection of family and personal time. It is estimated that the ministry requirements will average approximately 40 hours per week.

Five years of ministry leadership experience with a related post secondary degree are expected although we are willing to consider applicants who have alternative combinations of education and experience.
