Position Description

Cornerstone Counselling is looking for a dedicated and experienced Registered Psychologist to join our Edmonton office as a practicing psychologist and as a member of the Clinical Supervision Team.

What You Will Do

  • Provide psychological services to Cornerstone’s clients (adults, couple, and teens) in the role of a Registered Psychologist
  • Fulfill responsibilities as a member of the Clinical Supervision Team such as:
  • Help ensure that Cornerstone Counselling and its counselling team maintain a high level of ethical and professional standards
  • Provide support to leadership in the hiring, orientation, training, and performance evaluation of clinical staff
  • Instill an attitude of continuous service improvement Provide consultation and support to clinical staff and practicum students in their work to serve clients
  • Assist clinical staff and practicum students in enhancing their skills and improving client outcomes
  • Improve communication among employees in the clinical environment
  • Enhance quality of psychological service offerings
  • Assist in the planning and promoting Cornerstone Counselling’s community mental health programs
  • Provide performances evaluations for the clinical staff
  • Schedule clinical staff meetings for team consultations, training and team-building
  • Stay up-to-date on all relevant matters such as, innovative therapies, changes in provincial government regulations, new directives from the College of Alberta Psychologists, and emerging mental health issues
  • Identify quality assurance and risk management issues and communicate these to senior administration
  • Monitor the use of resources to determine staffing needs
  • Monitor the physical space and recommend improvements to ensure clients comfort and safety
  • Ensure that all client records are accurately maintained

What You Will Bring to the Role

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology and have a registration in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists
  • A minimum of five years of post-registration experience in psychological assessment and intervention
  • Ability to supervise practicum students, provisional psychologists and other mental health designation as required
  • Ability to facilitate group supervision sessions
  • Alignment with our core values, mission and community service orientation
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing emotional distress, addictions, trauma, violence and abuse, relationship issues, coping & behavioral issues, loss & grief, among others
  • Experience with couples counselling
  • Experience working with Indigenous clients is an asset
  • Clinical experience in providing assessments is an asset
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving, decision-making skills and analytical skills
  • Exceptional management, leadership and team building skills
  • Great attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent sound judgment skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced challenging environment
  • Must be able to work normal weekday hours Monday through Friday with some evening hours
