Position Description

Northend Church is a church plant of the Ontario Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches that opened in 2018. We are looking for an experienced Worship Pastor to take the lead in cultivating a vibrant, Holy Spirit filled, worshipping community that passionately pursues God together. Creativity, an eye for detail, and a strong team builder are essential for this position. The Worship Pastor will take the lead in planning all creative content for Sunday services, alongside the Lead Pastor and creative team.

The responsibilities for this position will include:

Musical Worship

  • Lead Sunday corporate worship and weekly worship rehearsals.
  • Create the weekly worship set list and research new music.
  • Lead the set up of sound equipment and other technical requirements.
  • Recruit, train, equip, and inspire the worship team members. Develop and invest personally in a thriving volunteer worship team.
  • Oversee scheduling for all band and tech volunteers.
  • Provide musical, organizational, and spiritual leadership for the worship ministry.
  • Supervise the maintenance of all musical and technical equipment.


  • Identify, evaluate, and incorporate new music and other creative service elements such as video, scripture readings, and other media.
  • Share in the leading of weddings, funerals, and special worship nights as needed.
  • Provide resources to congregants to encourage a variety of ways to engage in worship in addition to music.

Qualifications include:

  • Personal, growing relationship with Jesus; a strong commitment to the Word of God and prayer.
  • Strong musical ability, including music theory competency.
  • Ability to increase the spiritual depth of congregation through facilitating the worship experience.
  • Skilled in leadership, management and team building.
  • Theological grounding and sensitivity to the needs of corporate worship.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Graduate degree in a related discipline (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience in worship leading.

While this position is part-time for approximately 10-15 hours per week, there is also a position for a Congregational Life Pastor. These two positions can be complementary and form a full-time position.
