Position Type: Part-time 20 hours/week - 1 year Contract

Church in Toronto (CIT) is a non-denominational, biblically based vibrant Christian congregation that celebrates its diversity in cultures, ethnicity and age groups.

The Children’s Ministry Director provides vision, spiritual direction, guidance, training and oversight for the CIT Kids (ages 0 to 11), with a focus on the spiritual and holistic growth of children, their families, and the volunteers serving them. The Children’s Ministry Director works with the CIT Kids leadership team to assist in carrying out the CIT Kids mission, goals and the activities that support these goals. The position is currently done virtually but will move onsite when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. The remuneration will be in the $20 per hour range. This role is being offered on a one year contract basis, which could be extended.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee Sunday morning services, working together with volunteers for implementation, both online and in person
  • Build relationships with children and families
  • Recruit, train, coach, and schedule volunteers using digital platforms
  • Curriculum development and utilization of existing curriculum resources (Orange ® Curriculum)
  • Plan and implement an annual calendar of events and special projects (Christmas, Easter, Family Night, Kids Outreach, etc.)
  • Work collaboratively with the Youth Ministry to transition Grade 6 kids into CIT Youth
  • Plan and manage Ministry budget in coordination with elders and senior pastors
  • Oversee production of YouTube videos for children
  • Assist in Plan to Protect ® coordination
  • Report to the senior pastor, and meet with the elders and pastoral team regularly for planning, support, and accountability

Experience/Knowledge

  • Experience working with children ages 0-11 in a Kids’ Ministry or school setting
  • Demonstrated leadership skills of children and adults
  • Some college or equivalent education - education in children’s ministry and/or theology is an asset
  • Sound Biblical knowledge
  • A digital native with a high understanding of technology

  • Ability to exercise good judgment, show initiative and be proactive
  • Possesses a view of Ministry as a calling and a lifestyle
  • Has a desire to grow in their calling, gifting, skills, abilities, and knowledge

  • Participates actively in the life of CIT
  • Lives and upholds a Godly lifestyle
  • Satisfactory clearance under the Vulnerable Sector Screening process
  • Ability to work evenings for coordination with the leaders
  • First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain training
  • Ability to work in Canada
