Position Description

Richview Church’s mission statement is to joyfully lead people in a growing relationship with Jesus. We are associated with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada (FEB Central), and located at 1548 Kipling Ave., Etobicoke Ontario. We are a multiethnic, multigenerational congregation of approximately 200.

Job Description

This is a full-time, permanent position. The hopeful start date for the successful candidate will be in November 2021. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience according to the FEB Central guidelines.


The goal of the Associate Pastor will be to promote a healthy, vibrant, community at Richview who care for each other with the love of Jesus. His focus will be on community, connections, and care. He will be gifted in fostering relationships between those who are already involved at Richview and integrating visitors and fringe adherents into our community. The Associate Pastor will be gifted in connecting people to God through community and with one another. This will involve navigating theological, cultural, economic, linguistic, and philosophical differences between the various members and adherents of Richview Church. The Associate Pastor will work in team with and be accountable to the Lead Pastor.

Primary Duties

Sunday Morning

The Associate Pastor will preach 12-16 times per year. He will be expected to participate and lead in the Sunday morning service.

Integration in Community

The Associate Pastor will evaluate, develop, and maintain a vision and approach for integrating people into Richview’s community. He will seek to engage newcomers and adherents such that they join in the life of Richview Church. He will create an environment of intentional engagement with visitors among our membership and create opportunities for members and non-members alike to connect and build new relationships. He will be proactive in encouraging people to take next steps of faith, whether by baptism, church membership, joining a community group, etc.. He will oversee the First Impressions Team, which includes the ushers and greeters, to create an environment that welcomes all who come through our doors.

Discipleship in Community

The Associate Pastor will evaluate, develop, and maintain a vision and approach for discipleship in community. He will oversee Richview’s Community Groups and other related short-term groups (e.g. Alpha, Discipleship Explored, Starting Point). He will provide support, encouragement, leadership, and training for existing and prospective group leaders. He will promote these groups in the church to help members and adherents get connected.

Care in Community

The Associate Pastor will evaluate, develop, and maintain a vision and approach for care in community. He will oversee member visitation and spiritual guidance, especially to the sick, elderly, downtrodden, widowed, shut-in, and those in crisis. He will organize methods and teams of care to the congregation to foster a sense of community ownership in caring and loving one another (e.g. Celebrate Recovery). The hope is not that the Associate Pastor will do all the labour of caring, but that he will lead by example and equip and empower our congregation to grow in love for one another.

Duties to be Coordinated/Shared with Other Staff

Churchwide Events and Initiatives

The Associate Pastor will work alongside the staff to plan and execute events and initiatives that are not restricted to a specific ministry.

Other Pastoral Duties

Alongside the Lead Pastor, the Associate Pastor will coordinate Weddings and Funerals and other services. He will be called upon to fulfill other pastoral duties according to the life and season of the church and the gifting of the individual.


  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Theology or Ministry
  • Preferred 3+ years of full-time ministry or equivalent in a similar capacity
  • Preferred experience in a multi-staff environment
