Position Description

Hours: Permanent Part-time - 8 to 12 hours per week

Within the workplace, the treasurer understands respects and supports the mission, vision and values of Wellington Square United Church as part of the United Church of Canada.

The treasurer manages the financial requirements of Wellington Square United Church.

General Areas of Responsibility

  • Manage the weekly, monthly and annual financial needs of the church
  • Prepare annual budget and present to the board

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage weekly deposits, payables, cheques, email transfers
  • Input bi-weekly payroll data and enter ADP information in to QB
  • Review and submit to ADP necessary information relative to payroll including T4s or T4As
  • Balance bank accounts and provide monthly reports to ministry initiatives and the Board
  • Provide monthly financial report to the Board
  • File deposits and invoices
  • Balance and reconcile the investment account and communicate with the investment advisor regarding church held assets
  • Complete the financial portion of the UCC statistics report
  • Prepare the charity return and related schedules
  • Close WS books, prepare year end working papers and financial statements for the accountant
  • Manage gifts in kind donations that are received in the form of securities
