Position Description

Unionville Alliance Church is a warm, vibrant, multi-ethnic, multi-generational church in Markham, Ontario that exists to lead people to know Jesus Christ and to follow him passionately. As we move into a new season and culture of ministry, the full-time salaried role of Pastor of Adult Ministries & Online Engagement will be responsible for the various ministries that engage our adult population from young professionals to seniors. In this age of digital ministry, this pastor will envision, create, and execute, with the help of other ministry leaders, a church-wide digital strategy that fulfills our mission, vision, and values.

  • Fundamental agreement with the doctrinal statement of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada


  • A Bachelor’s degree or preferably a Master’s degree, from an accredited institution, in theology or a related field
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in pastoral ministry
  • A minimum of one year experience in digital ministry with a deep desire to leverage the online platform for gospel fulfillment
  • Accredited or able to be accredited as an official worker of the Christian & Missionary Alliance in Canada

Adult Ministry Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility of the health, growth, and fulfillment of all adult ministry initiatives
  • Cast vision, create plans, recruit volunteers, and lead the execution of all adult ministries, including but not limited to, young professionals, men’s ministry, women’s ministry, and seniors’ ministry
  • Champion our value for creating meaningful community by developing and training Life Group leaders, encouraging attendees to join a Life Group, and crafting a ministry plan for our larger Life Group model
  • Initiate and develop a mentorship ministry that leverages our multi-generational congregation to support, encourage and invest into one another
  • Create avenues to promote evangelism through the Alpha Program and other initiatives
  • Envision, develop and grow a discipleship model for new believers to become mature followers of Christ
  • Plan and oversee various support groups that meet specific needs of our congregation
  • Oversee the Pastoral Care Team which provides support, visitation, and encouragement to our congregation at times of sickness, grief, loss, isolation, and other circumstances
  • Preach and teach the word of God when called upon on Sundays and at other times throughout the week
  • As needed, assist with weddings, funerals, visitation, baptisms, and other pastoral duties
  • Create and oversee the Adult Ministries budget
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by the Lead Pastor

Online Engagement Responsibilities

  • Craft, develop, and execute a church-wide digital ministry plan and online discipleship model that fulfills our mission, vision, and values in the online space
  • Recruit, train, and develop an online ministry team to assist with our online engagement
  • Create and produce content for our various online platforms
  • In conjunction with our Director of Communications, create a ministry plan for various online platforms, including but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, MailChimp, Church Online platform and our website
  • In collaboration with staff and key ministry leaders, create opportunities for our online community to engage with various ministries and activities in the life of the church
  • Oversee and help all ministry leaders to “Engage the 167” through our digital platform
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by the Lead Pastor
