Position Description
Cornerstone Chinese Alliance Church, situated in Markham, ON (Kennedy and 14th Ave.), is looking for a seminary student to learn and grow in youth ministry. The church has about thirty youths (approximately ten youths from grades 7-8, twenty from grades 9-12). The preferable and ideal candidate would be passionate for young people, energetic, and willing to invest time to build, guide, and influence the next generation to follow Jesus Christ.
Requirements
- Full-time Bachelor or MDiv. study or equivalent level at a recognized Bible college or seminary
- Minimum 10 hours per week (which can be used as part of the seminary program’s practical requirement)
- Attend Worship (1.5 hours)
- Teach Youth Sunday School (1.5 hours)
- Attend Youth Fellowship (3 hours)
- Meet with Supervisor (1 hour)
- Preparation Time (3 hours)
- Abide to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Statement of Faith, which can be found at https://www.cmacan.org/beliefs/
- Follow Cornerstone Chinese Alliance Church’s Seminary Student Scholarship / Internship Policy, which will be explained to suitable candidates
- Language proficiency in Cantonese is a strong asset, but not a requirement
- In good standing with the church which they attend and call their “home church”
- Submit three references that can be contacted
- Submit a personal testimony of their salvation and calling in ministry
- A police background check is required as the person is working with minors
- This is a requirement of the Christian & Missionary Alliance’s “Plan to Protect” policy
Tasks
- Attend and participate in the English Sunday Service
- Teach the Youth Sunday School class and support the other teachers
- Attend and support the Friday night Youth Fellowships
- Meet weekly with supervisor
- There may also be opportunities to preach on Sundays
Financial Support
- The church intends to pay for the student’s full-time tuition in its entirety for that academic school year as a special scholarship to encourage the nurture and development of future pastors or missionaries
- In return, the church hopes that the student would serve at Cornerstone Chinese Alliance Church for the academic year
- This scholarship can be renewable for each academic year until the student graduates
- Cornerstone Chinese Alliance Church desires to walk with the student during their Bible college or seminary study years until they graduate from their MDiv. or Bachelor’s or equivalent program
