Position Description

Immanuel Church is a multi-generational church that exists to lead people to be passionate Jesus followers.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate for the position is an energetic, passionate, and is a creative leader who understands and can advance the philosophy of worship that guides our worship experience at Immanuel. Our desire is to create celebratory, God-oriented worship experiences that connect people with Him. Additionally, the Director of Worship Arts will utilize/implement a variety of media and art forms to cultivate an environment of worship at Immanuel not just on Sunday but throughout the week. Working together as a team is important to us here at Immanuel, so you will be expected to contribute during staff meetings and church-wide initiatives. Additionally, we encourage our staff team to support one another as they are able. 

Characteristics, Skills, and Experience

  • A heart for God demonstrated by an authentic, personal, reproducible walk with God evidenced in a balanced life, a hunger for the Scriptures, and prayer
  • You’re not only a talented vocalist and musician, but you also have a proven ability to envision, develop, plan, and implement an effective Worship Arts Ministry in alignment with our ministry philosophy
  • Have a passion for leading worship, developing worship teams with a variety of instrumentation and sounds as well as possessing a desire to extend the ministry of the Gospel to the next generation
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Effective in interpersonal communication
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work both supervised and unsupervised
  • Proven ability to attract, retain and develop individuals in your ministry context
  • Express a willingness to explore fresh and innovative ways to make the worship experience relevant to all generations and to those who are not engaged in Christian community
  • Skills, technical expertise, and experience necessary to carry out key areas of responsibility
  • In alignment with the Mission and Values of Immanuel Church
  • Formal Musical Training is strongly desired
  • Knowledge of live-streaming, sound equipment and audio mixing are a plus
  • Experience with Final Cut Pro is an asset


  • Lead in the creation of our weekly worship gatherings (online & in-person) in such a way that they connect people with God (Father, Son & Holy Spirit), the Gospel, and the theme of the weekly service
  • Ensure that Sermons & Worship Services are available and are distributed to the congregation through a variety of mediums
  • Be involved in discipling worship ministry team members
  • Help the church to embrace worship as a lifestyle encompassing more than just music
  • Develop and coordinate weekly worship & tech teams, musical sets, and rehearsals
  • Lead God-centered worship experiences (on Sundays and at other gatherings throughout the year)
  • Oversee the technical elements of service and special events
  • Lead the congregation to be an authentic worshiping people in their day-to-day lives
  • Pursue ongoing recruitment of worship ministry team members (vocalists, instrumentalists, Scripture readers, communion servers, sound technicians, camera operators etc.) to meet the needs of a growing church
  • Develop a variety of sounds and instrumentation
  • Create a culture of multiplication in the areas of worship arts and technology
  • Oversee the worship arts department budget
  • Participate in the life of Immanuel Church staff
