Position Description

Brant Community Church (BCC) is in Brantford, Ontario and whose mission is “restoring lives through the love of Jesus”.  We are a medium sized church with about 350 attending (pre-covid). We act more like a community outreach centre with church services. Our neighbourhood impact includes a choice based food market, a clothing market, a community outreach breakfast, partnerships with schools and community groups, multiple Christmas events and many other ways we engage our neighbourhood.  We believe that loving like Jesus is what we should be known for, so we try to be a church who loves the way of Jesus in all areas of life and ministry.

The Pastor of Youth Ministry and Worship is a full time role responsible for the envisioning, leading and overseeing the youth and worship ministries at BCC.  As part of the youth ministry role the PYMW will be responsible for both Junior High (Grade 7-8) and Senior High (Grade 9-12) youth groups.  As part of the worship role they will lead and organize the worship music ministry at BCC and they will be the champion of both ministries.  If you love students and you love worship then this would be a great fit for you.

Responsibilities

Youth

  • Create a vision and  develop a strategic plan for all youth ministries.
  • Create and sustain an engaging mid-week experience for students.
  • Develop a ministry that will impact both church and un-churched students, relating to the unique needs of teens in today’s culture.
  • Recruit, disciple and sustain a team of volunteer leaders.
  • Teach and equip youth and leaders in small and large settings.
  • Develop a Student Leadership Team who will lead the ministry and disciple their peers.
  • Engage parents as vital partners and communicate well with parents, coming alongside parents in times of crisis.
  • Prepare and submit and manage an annual budget.
  • Organize periodic retreats.

Worship

  • In collaboration with the worship team, Lead Pastor and programming team create excellent, energetic, and engaging worship experiences.
  • Collaborate on worship technology implementation and service design. 
  • Recruit volunteers and provide training for them to carry out the necessary aspects of worship ministry.
  • Develop musicians and leaders in the area of worship at BCC. 
  • Lead worship as part of a team of leaders and provide input into the selection of music.
  • Oversee the scheduling and administrative details of the worship services.
  • Assist with the planning and executing of special events in the area of worship arts as assigned.
  • Prepare and manage a yearly budget.

Qualifications

  • Be in full agreement with Brant Community Church’s Statement of Faith and fully aligned with the vision and mission of BCC.
  • Must have a clear demonstration of a personal and growing relationship with Jesus.
  • Preference will be given to those who have degree or diploma from an accredited Christian College or Seminary.
  • Previous experience in working with students and involvement in leading a worship ministry are very important.
  • Experience in recruiting and developing teams of volunteers and leaders.
  • Experience in creating and casting vision, core values and strategy.
  • Must have a collaborative style of leadership, an entrepreneurial spirit, excellent written and communication skills and the experience and ability to teach a variety of audiences and groups.

This is a full time one year contract position covering for a long term health issue.  There is the possibility of it becoming a permanent position at the completion of the year depending on the ongoing health issues and job performance.
