Position Description

Our vision is to become a regional church of 10,000 meeting the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of people in Jesus’s name. The following staff position is critical in helping Sanctus execute on the fulfillment of that vision.


The Site Pastor will be the key point person for Sanctus’ next site in the Markham-Stouffville area, tentatively planned for Fall 2022. This full-time position will have a start date of early 2022 and the first 6-9 months will be focused on preparing for the launch of the site, including building relationships with congregants, developing leaders and recruiting volunteers, looking for a permanent or semi-permanent facility, and overseeing all facets of the site launch in partnership with and under the guidance of the Executive Pastor of Sites.

This person will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the site ensuring participation in and alignment with the mission, vision and values of Sanctus. Effective contextualization of the mission and vision of Sanctus to the local site community is a key part of this role. Working Sunday to Thursday, the Markham-Stouffville Site Pastor will report to the Executive Pastor of Sites and Ministries and work closely with the Pastoral Ministries team and the other Site Pastors.

  • A 360 degree leader: effective at leading ‘down’, leading ‘sideways’ and leading ‘up’.
  • Proven track record of building sustainable and effective teams of volunteers.
  • Strong Biblical understanding; able to share the gospel with clarity and conviction.
  • Capacity to provide meaningful pastoral care to a community of people.
  • Highly organized, dependable and trustworthy.
  • Preaching ability is desired but not required.
