Kerr Street Mission (KSM) is a Christian registered charity dedicated to providing  care and a community of support for those in Oakville that are struggling and in need, improving their current and future well-being.

We require a Marketing and Communication Specialist that can help us create greater awareness and engagement to KSM.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to take their Marketing and Communications career to next level. They will report to and work closely with the Executive Director (ED). They will have an opportunity to learn and develop as they lead the Marketing Plan process and explore new communications approaches to expand the reach and effectiveness of KSM’s communications. 

Position Title: Marketing Communication Specialist

Term: Full Time 

Salary:  $42,000 – $48,000 annually      

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing Communication Specialist will be responsible for the development and execution of the Marketing and Plan, working closely with the Fundraising and Stewardship team. They will continue to help expand the understanding and awareness of KSM and its impact within the community through evaluating the effectiveness of their strategic efforts among the current partners, supporters and stakeholders.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

1) Planning and Development of Marketing and Communications Strategies and Tactics:

  • Develop and implement the annual Marketing Plan in order to increase awareness of KSM’s mission and program offerings.
  • Develop and implement the communication action plans to support fundraising and enhance donor retention.
  • Support the Fundraising and Stewardship Committee to assess needs and determine priorities.
  • Establish and manage the ‘work plans’ for the development and implementation of the plans and tactics.
  • Explore strategies for digital and social media platforms and develop a plan to increase the reach and effectiveness of tactics.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with local Ad Agencies to increase contributions and support of KSM Marketing and Communications.

2) Implementation of Marketing and Communications Strategies and Tactics

  • Lead the development and distribution of Impact reports, media articles and releases, advertising, etc.
  • Assist with the development of campaign materials and thank you reports.
  • Be responsible for social calendar content creation, posting and social media monitoring.
  • Work with website manager to ensure that all content reflects and is aligned to marketing strategies.
  • Ensure all information on social media is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Liaise closely with Director of Fundraising & Stewardship to align on communication priorities and marketing materials required for donor development and retention.

3) Reporting and Evaluation of Strategies and Tactics

  • Gather and analyze data on the marketing and communications initiatives to measure ROI and develop new ideas to improve KSM’s effectiveness.
  • Responsible for monthly social media analytic reporting.
  • Provide updates and reports to the Fundraising and Stewardship Committee at bi-monthly meetings.


  • University degree in marketing, communications or public relations.
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and MS Office and other software options
  • Demonstrated examples of digital marketing digital savvy with social content and execution.
  • Demonstrated examples of project management skills.
  • Demonstrated examples of marketing and communication capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and writing.
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively with people and build strong working relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with donors, partners, and volunteers.
  • Excellent time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities with a high attention detail.
  • Adaptable and flexible to dynamic priorities and needs.
  • Ability to work independently and complete projects to desired outcomes.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
