Position Description

We are a community on a journey to be more like Jesus. The Gathering Place and Revival Centre is an independent evangelical congregation with Pentecostal roots that is seeking a Pastor. The candidate will work for a period of time alongside the current Pastor in a transitional role, and the duration of this period is to be determined. The goal of a transition period is to ease the process of change for the congregation. The successful applicant will embody the fruit of the Spirit in their approach to life and ministry. Our church is seeking a pastor with a classical Pentecostal theology. Applicants must apply from within Canada or their resumes will not be processed.

The ministry competencies in this role include:

  • Preaching and teaching of the word of God in a manner that is both academic and relatable
  • Personal outreach and care abilities for a congregation hailing from all backgrounds
  • Community outreach and care abilities for a church situated in a disadvantaged area

Desired personal characteristics include:

  • Certificate or diploma from an accredited Bible College or seminary
  • Proven experience in ministry, including not fewer than two videos of recent messages the candidate has delivered,  a list of all prior locations of work with freedom for The Gathering Place to contact each one.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an approachable, non-hierarchical style of Pastoring, including the ability to facilitate meetings, motivate fellow workers, and delegate tasks professionally and without domineering
  • Skill and experience in prayer
  • Physical capacity to deal with building issues as they arise
  • Networking skills to connect with neighborhood partners
  • Humility, honesty, and integrity as central personal characteristics, including the ability to adapt to the local church culture in an attitude of service rather than celebrity-seeking
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and to staying on top of current trends in faith and culture, including a demonstrated awareness of the harms of abusive leadership styles and teachings
