Position Description
Under the direction of the Senior Pastor, and with input from the Elder’s Board, the Associate Pastor of Evangelism and Youth/Young Adults will:
- Reach out and evangelize non-churched individuals in the community, with a dedicated focus on youth and young adults
- Work with the Senior Pastor to effectively disciple church congregants, with a dedicated focus on the youth and young adults within the church
- Organize and disciple volunteer youth leaders
- Provide spiritual leadership and care to church congregants
- Work with the Sr. Pastor and MCF Ministry teams to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)
Duties and Core Responsibilities
- To evangelize, disciple, minister to, and pray for the members of the church and the community, with a dedicated focus on youth and young adults, walking alongside them to further their spiritual growth
- To lead, coordinate, and implement an evangelism ministry, reaching out to members of our community, with a dedicated focus on youth and young adults, that is consistent with Mountainview Christian Fellowship’s (MCF) mission and vision, including marketing, leading events (where appropriate), planning and leading teaching sessions, developing and executing an annual calendar of events, and proposing and managing an annual budget
- To engage, encourage, support, and pray for members of the church and the community, with special attention for families of youth participants
- Lead a weekly Small Group
- To lead, coordinate, and implement ministry for youth that is consistent with Mountainview Christian Fellowship’s (MCF) mission and vision, including leading events (where appropriate), planning and leading teaching sessions, developing and executing an annual calendar of events, and proposing and managing an annual budget
- To build a youth ministry team by equipping, encouraging, and praying for leaders, teachers, helpers, and sponsors
- Lead a weekly Youth meeting and Sunday morning Youth service
- To be familiar with and communicate all laws in British Columbia pertaining to leading and caring for children and youth in the church setting and implement through policies and procedures as set out by MCF, and to maintain and update all appropriate records and information pertaining to the operations of youth ministry
Qualifications and Requirements (Education, Experience, Licenses/Certifications)
- Formal Christian Education
- Gifted in evangelism
- Experience teaching and working with youth and young adults
- Experience working in a team setting
- A demonstrated heart for God and a growing, vital spiritual life as evidenced by prayer, worship and knowledge of God’s Word consistently expressed in all matters of life
- Biblical qualifications as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-11 and Titus 1:5-9
- Commitment to the mission and vision of MCF and its statement of faith
- The individual must be a member of MCF
- Experience with preaching from the pulpit is preferred, but not required
- Prior pastoral experience is preferred, but not required
Special Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (Class 4 driver’s license is an asset)
- First aid certification will be required
- The individual must submit to a Criminal Records Check
Accountability
The Pastor of Evangelism and Youth/Young Adults will report to the Senior Pastor
