About Us
The BFM Foundation (Canada) is a national Christian organization with over 50 Mission Thrift Stores across the country. Our stores support the Joint Ministry of BFM Foundation (Canada) and Bible League Canada, funding adult literacy programs, church planter training, children’s ministry, and Bible distribution worldwide. Our stores are primarily operated by dedicated volunteers.
Position Overview
Mission Thrift Store Burlington is seeking a full-time Front End Supervisor who embodies our vision and purpose. The Front Store Supervisor must have strong relational qualities and be able to train volunteers to effectively operate the Mission Thrift Store. He/She must reflect Christ in his/her behavior and be vibrant, passionate and have an entrepreneurial spirit. They must understand the needs and wants of a thrift store customer and be able to motivate volunteers to deliver exceptional customer service. They must understand inventory control, pricing, separation of duties, delegation, motivation, marketing and financial management. They will work with the Store Manager to maximize production and sales floor success by modeling an excellent work ethic and promoting cleanliness in the store. This position will report to and assist the Store Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Merchandising Store Floor to maximize store sales
- Provide excellent customer service and handle customer complaints with professionalism.
- Supervise cashiers and volunteers, ensuring adherence to store policies and customer service standards.
- Oversee daily cash handling and transaction accuracy.
- Assist with training and motivating volunteers to ensure effective store operation.
In fulfilling your responsibilities, you will be required to pray with people who work or volunteer for Mission Thrift Stores. This may include but is not limited to opening in prayer at Staff Meetings, Morning or Afternoon Huddles and Mission Thrift Store events.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of retail experience with a focus on cash handling and customer service.
- Strong leadership and management skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to resolve customer complaints.
- Experience in the non-profit or voluntary sector is an asset.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week, including Monday through Friday, and every other Saturday.
- Flexibility to work both AM shifts (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM) or PM shifts (12:30 PM - 8:30 PM).
- Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
