Position Description
Chosen People Ministries (Canada) is looking for a mature individual with pastoral experience and a call to minister to the Jewish community to pastor our Messianic congregation in Toronto.
Kehillat Eytz Chaim (KEC) began as a work of Chosen People Ministries (Canada) (CPMC) about 15 years ago. We are a Messianic community of Jews and Gentiles who worship and fellowship together, one in Yeshua (Jesus), the promised Messiah of Israel. All are welcome to worship with us on Shabbat.
We are looking for a full-time congregational leader who can pastor this evangelical fellowship on the foundations of the Old Testament and with an understanding of the Jewishness of the New Testament.
Chosen People Ministries is one of the oldest and largest evangelical missions in the world. Our goals are to reach out to Jewish people with the Gospel of Jesus the Messiah and to equip our Christian brothers and sisters to do the same. We are at work in about 20 countries and have been established in Canada since the 1940s.
Qualifications:
- A sincere love for the Jewish people (Genesis 12:2-3; Psalm 122:6; Romans 1:16; Romans 10:1) and evidence of a growing Christian faith.
- Must have the qualifications of an Elder (1Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)
- Must be a growing disciple of Messiah Yeshua
- Male; married preferred
- Ethnically and culturally Jewish preferred
- Bible college degree (required) or seminary degree (preferred)
- Five years’ experience in vocational Jewish ministry preferred
- Must be in full agreement with Eytz Chaim/CPMC Statement of Faith
- Must be willing to accept and abide by Eytz Chaim/CPMC policies and Code of Conduct
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide leadership, vision and direction for the ministry of Eytz Chaim
- Serve as an elder of Eytz Chaim
- Lead the congregation in the ministries, programs and outreach of the congregation.
- Provide discipleship, modeling, teaching and training for the congregation.
- Visit those who are grieving, hospitalized and homebound
- Provide pastoral counselling and care
- Provide for the Biblical preaching and teaching ministry of Eytz Chaim which presently include: Shabbat morning service messages, messages at all Holiday services, messages at all life-cycle services
- Oversee the administration of the congregation, including:
- Compliance with all federal, provincial and local requirements
- Timely payment of all bills, debts, obligations and charitable/ministry donations
- Receipting of all donations made to the congregation and its ministries
- Timely, appropriate communication with the congregation, CPMC, the community and the greater Body of Messiah
- Maintaining an up-to-date congregational fellowship, ministry and missions’ calendar for all Eytz Chaim activities
