MCC BC's Social Enterprises generate revenue to support MCC's world changing work by providing exceptional services to our communities delivered by our committed employees and volunteers. As MCC BC's Social Enterprise Operations Coordinator, you ensure that initiatives to drive higher customer engagement, better brand presence, more effective teams, and growing revenues for MCC’s world-changing initiatives are well coordinated, well supported, and well communicated.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to MCC BC’s Social Enterprise Director and as a member of MCC BC’s Social Enterprise support team, the Social Enterprise Operations Coordinator works with other Social Enterprise leaders to help identify, design, and deliver effective initiatives to drive better performance from MCC BC’s Social Enterprises: the thrift shop network, MCC BC Quilts, Ten Thousand Villages, and Common Place Cafe. This diverse and dynamic jack-of-all-trades role may include, but is not limited to, designing and delivering Social Enterprise marketing campaigns and growth initiatives; leading specialized and cross-functional teams to improve channel performance through process improvements and technology upgrades; overseeing MCC BC’s Social Enterprise digital presence; assisting Social Enterprise leaders to provide marketing and administrative support to Social Enterprise teams; and supporting a variety of organizational initiatives to support MCC BC’s strategy.
Strong relationships are key: the Social Enterprise Operations Coordinator is a key go-between among the Social Enterprise Director and other MCC BC senior leaders, busy Social Enterprise managers, and MCC BC support teams (including Finance, Human Resources, Facilities, and Information Technology), ensuring that all stakeholders are well-informed and appropriately consulted on changes and initiatives.
The Social Enterprise Operations Coordinator daily demonstrates MCC BC’s beliefs, values, and missions with MCC BC colleagues, vendors, clients, and stakeholders as you deliver proactive and innovative projects and programs to grow MCC BC’s market presence.
HOURS, LOCATIONS, & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Missional commitment: this role requires a demonstrated commitment to: a personal Christian faith and discipleship; active participation in a Christian church or Christian community; and nonviolent peacemaking. This role commits the employee to working collaboratively to create and maintain an organizational culture that prevents and responds to situations of abuse of power (sexual harassment, child abuse, racism, exploitation, and fraud among other situations). This role participates in devotional and prayer times at MCC BC and/or at local church and faith gatherings, being prepared to answer inquiries about MCC BC’s mission and values. This role contributes to a positive workplace culture based on Christian beliefs and values, while modelling nonviolent peacemaking in the workplace, in the community and the church through respectful interactions with others. This role requires adherence to MCC BC’s Code of Conduct, policies, practices, and procedures, including Workplace Health and Safety.
- When you work: this position primarily operates within general office hours of 8:30 – 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. This role may require extended, after or holiday hours to support special organizational initiatives, as necessary.
- Where you work: this position is primarily located at MCC BC’s Abbotsford head office. Delivering marketing and channel initiatives and special organizational initiatives may require travel to other MCC BC locations within British Columbia or to liaise with MCC Canada and global Social Enterprise teams across North America, as necessary. Ability to work at other locations (stores) across the Lower Mainland/BC on a relief basis as needed.
- How much you work: this is a full-time salaried position working a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Supporting special organizational initiatives may require working extended, after or holiday hours, as necessary.
- Physical conditions & requirements: this position may require up to 100% computer-monitor time.
- Interactions with vulnerable populations: this position will have low interactions with vulnerable populations.
- Pace of work: this position will work in a busy office environment, responding to requests as they come in and with some project deadlines.
Qualifications, Expectations & Competencies
- Be positive, adaptable, honest, communicate well, work hard and be willing to learn
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & ACCREDITATIONS
- A certificate, diploma, or degree in Business, I.T. or Marketing, or three years of relevant retail, retail support or marketing, project support/coordination, or some combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of the second-hand merchandise market and basic ability to assess quality of clothing, housewares, and furniture is an asset
- Experience managing projects, including retail systems and/or operations projects, an asset
- Working knowledge of e-commerce site development and maintenance is preferred
- Working knowledge of various social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook is preferred
JOB REQUIREMENTS & LICENSING
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence along with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
- Satisfactory criminal record clearance
- Legally able to work in Canada
