Position Description

JOB MISSION STATEMENT

Mennonite Central Committee British Columbia (MCC BC) is on a mission to share God's love and compassion through global and local relief, development, and peacebuilding. Our Information Technology team ensures that our systems are supporting our mission. As our Systems & Support Specialist, you help equip and support our teams with effective and reliable technology tools to accomplish this world-changing goal.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to MCC BC's I.T. Manager and as a member of the MCC BC Information Technology team, the Systems & Support Specialist helps plan, organize, support and deliver all aspects of Information Technology (I.T.) services to MCC BC administrative teams; Thrift Shop and Social Enterprises teams across multiple locations within British Columbia; and affiliated organizations. This may include, but is not limited to, installing and configuring hardware and software; solving technology problems; configuring and enabling systems supplied through MCC's Global I.T. group; supporting team members as they use MCC BC technology; and managing technology and systems projects and assets.

The Systems & Support Specialist daily demonstrates MCC BC's beliefs, values, and missions with MCC BC colleagues, vendors, clients and stakeholders as you provide approachable and expert technology services and support across a broad range of applications, platforms and processes.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • How much you work: this is a 1-year term, full-time salaried position working a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Can require working extended, after or holiday hours, if necessary.
  • When you work: this position operates primarily within general office hours of 8:30 - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Where you work: this position is located at MCC BC's Abbotsford head office. Hybrid work may be possible. May require travel to other communities or MCC BC locations within British Columbia or to liaise with MCC Global I.T. services across North America, as necessary.
  • Pace of work: this position will work in a busy office environment, responding to requests as they come in and with some project deadlines.
  • Physical conditions & requirements: this position may require up to 100% computer-monitor time. This position may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Interactions with vulnerable populations: this position will have low interactions with vulnerable populations.

ROLE COMPETENCIES

  • Advanced Technical Troubleshooting: expert at diagnosing and resolving a wide range of hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Microsoft & Cloud Proficiency: skilled in configuring, supporting, and maintaining Microsoft-based systems (e.g., Intune, Microsoft 365) and various cloud/SaaS platforms, along with related devices and networks (VPN, LAN, wireless).
  • User Support & Communication: effective at interpreting and explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences, providing top-tier end-user support, and delivering formal and informal training.
  • Project & Priority Management: capable of independently managing multiple projects, requests, and priorities, ensuring timely and organized completion of tasks.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration: adept at engaging with stakeholders professionally, maintaining vendor relationships, and working both independently and in cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & ACCREDITATIONS

  • A certificate, diploma or degree in relevant technology platforms and services, or three years of relevant experience, or some combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft technologies in professional environments strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Canadian faith-based charities an asset.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & LICENSING

  • Legally able to work in Canada.
  • Satisfactory criminal record clearance.
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence along with a satisfactory driver's abstract.
