Position Description

EastRidge Church is in Stouffville, Ontario, just half hour north of Toronto, with a growing population of 50,000 people. Formerly known as Stouffville Missionary Church which started 150 years ago, EastRidge is an Evangelical Missionary Church (EMC). We create spaces for people to experience the love of Jesus through weekly Sunday worship and messages, community events, weekly programs, life groups and summer camps. As a missionary church, we support global workers around the world in their work of sharing the love of Jesus and making an impact on those who don’t know Him yet.

OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking a Youth and Young Adult Pastor to oversee the youth and young adult ministries of the church. Reporting to the Lead Pastor, the successful candidate ensures the development of youth and young adult ministries in alignment with the vision and mission of EastRidge Church.

DUTIES INCLUDE: YOUTH (GR 6-12) AND YOUNG ADULTS (AGED 18-25)

• Develop goals and objectives for the Youth & Young Adult Ministries that align with the vision and mission of the church.
• Inspire and encourage youth and young adults by exemplifying and promoting a Christ-centered lifestyle, fostering a deeper commitment to Christ's mission.
• Provide spiritual leadership through preaching and teaching, planning retreats, attending youth conferences and helping youth and young adults grow in their understanding of God's Word
• Oversee and provide support to existing Junior Youth Ministry
• Develop and lead weekly programs for discipleship and outreach for Senior Youth and Young Adults
• Develop methods for recruiting, training, supporting and constructively evaluating leaders within the youth and young adults for our various disciple-making and evangelism ministries. Help others to embrace responsibility and exercise influence when necessary.
• Encourage youth and young adults to serve in various ministries within the church (worship team, sound team, serving in the nursery or Sunday school classes for children, etc).
• Partner with parents to actively engage them in their youth's spiritual development.
• Develop relationships with other local Youth Pastors.

CHURCH MINISTRY:

• Actively participate in staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with the Lead Pastor, Elder Board meetings, and other necessary gatherings to ensure the successful leadership of the youth and young adult ministry.
• Coordinate with the Marketing & Systems Lead for promotion and communication of all youth related communications.
• Assist in the continued development and implementation of Safe Church policy.
• Collaborate with NextGen leaders to create plan that aligns with the vision and supports the spiritual development of the next generation; review and adjust plan regularly
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned or requested by the Lead Pastor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate exhibits: a clear calling for the next generation (compassion/heart for youth), a commitment to a personal Christian faith and discipleship; active participation in a Christian church; and nonviolent peacemaking.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• A minimum of a B.A. or equivalent degree in Bible or theology from a reputable university, college
• 5 plus years of experience in a pastoral role in a church.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Legally able to work in Canada
• Work on-site; 40 hours/week
• CLEARED Police background check
• Be in agreement with the EMCC Statement of Faith and Articles of Faith and Practice
• Become a member of EastRidge Church
