Position Description

Mission Possible Canada, a nondenominational, multinational Christian mission organization, with headquarters in Thamesford, Ontario, needs to fill the position of Executive Director. Information about the mission is available at: www.OurMissionIsPossible.org.

Scope:

  • The Director must be a person of prayer with a calling for missions responsible for casting vision, able to motivate, and lead spiritually, emotionally, and physically according to Christian biblical principles.
  • This person shall plan and oversee, with the assistance of the USA President and Board, all the activity of Mission Possible in Canada, working closely with the leadership in Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

Responsibilities:

  • Through prayer, seek the Lord’s direction and His blessing for the extended Mission Possible staff, office personnel, and donor base in Canada.  
  • The Director shall be responsible to determine areas of strengths and weaknesses within Mission Possible in Canada. This person shall provide oversight and guidance to the Canadian Board and work closely with the USA Board of Mission Possible. This person shall provide current information to the USA office and meet at least quarterly with the Canadian Board to set and evaluate the goals for Canada.
  • This person shall oversee daily operations for the Canadian office and be available to travel to the field as needed to build relationships with the Haitian and Dominican staff.
  • Additional responsibilities include promotion and management of financial integrity and resource development by identifying and strategically planning for future ministry and growth.

Leadership:

  • Provide integrity of leadership and equip others for the work of the ministry, demonstrate self-control and righteous living that others can emulate.
  • Maintain and project an attitude of optimism about what God is doing through Mission Possible. Work closely with the Board and leadership in the field to provide information and encouragement.
  • Work to continually develop a flow of fresh ideas for the growth and development of Mission Possible.

Administration:

  • Accountability and timely performance should be maintained throughout management and utilization of available resources.
  • Participate in outreach activities that are compatible with our statement of faith and ministry activities in and out of the country.

Board of Directors:

Work and effectively communicate with, assist and encourage work within the committees, provide timely status and field reports, and participate with the Canadian, USA, and Mission Possible Dominican Republic Boards of Trustees.

Experience:

Candidate should have previous administrative experience in a non-profit organization as well as previous short or long-term foreign mission experience. The candidate should also have a job history demonstrating their administrative and leadership capabilities. Additionally, experience in non-profit financial matters, fundraising, and working with and coordinating multiple staff is required.

Other Specific Duties:

  • Finance
  • Ensure Mission Possible’s financial record keeping systems and data are accurate, complete, and reliable
  • Ensure compliance with government financial regulations and CCCC standards
  • Ensure the regular communication of Mission Possible Canada’s financial status to the Board
  • Ensure the processing of Accounts Payable, expense reports and Accounts Receivable
  • Ensure the processing of all donor gifts (check, electronic, in-kind, etc.)
  • Ensure the production and Board presentation of Mission Possible Canada’s annual budget
  • Government Compliance
  • Ensure Mission Possible Canada complies with all country of operations rules and regulations regarding non-profit organizations
  • Ensure Mission Possible Canada government financial, property, employee, and legal fees and documents are filed accurately and on time
  • Organization Policy and Procedure Administration
  • Ensure that all non-profit documents are current and securely stored
  • Ensure that all Board approved policies and procedures are current and securely stored
  • Ensure that all Organization operating policies and procedures are current and securely stored
  • Ensure that all deeds and other papers of ownership are current and securely stored
  • Ensure that all organization working documents (trip files, donor correspondence, etc.) are securely stored as well as adequately and routinely backed up
