ABOUT THE BRIDGE WHITBY CHURCH

The Bridge Whitby Church is situated in the north end of the city of Whitby Ontario. Our church is a church of 200-250 individuals and growing quickly. This role will be a full-time position.

The associate pastor will develop and implement teaching opportunities and events, recruiting, training and deployment of volunteer leaders, and provide support systems that will enable the families of the Bridge Whitby Church to fulfill its vision of being a church where all are loved, disciples are made, and God is glorified.

THE POSITION

The Bridge Whitby Church requires a full-time Associate Pastor whose primary mandate is to equip and disciple parents of our growing family ministry to build strong marriages and spiritually healthy families founded on a biblical worldview.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS                         

  • develop and implement an annual ministry plan to equip and encourage parents in their marriages, family life, and discipleship within the home
  • develop, encourage and provide direction for a Family Ministry volunteer team
  • create and manage the Family Life ministry budget
  • oversee the safety of children, youth, and volunteers by ensuring all volunteers have met appropriate safety protocols (Vulnerable Sector Checks and Plan to Protect certification)
  • collaborate with communications team to “market” family ministry events and ongoing ministries
  • collaborate with Lead Pastor and Executive Ministry Team to implement ministry vision
  • collaborate with Director of Discipleship, Director of Bridge Kids and Bridge Youth Leaders to deliver cohesive vision and direction of the family ministries team
  • assist in the delivery of congregational care as directed by Lead Pastor, Church Administrator, and Deacons
  • preach/teach when assigned on annual preaching calendar
  • serve each Sunday (unless booked off) ie: Welcome Ministry, leading communion, welcome/announcements, assisting with setup and cleanup for services and special events
  • willingness to learn the A/V system in the worship center
  • engage in the planning/support of church-wide events
  • participate in all staff and elders’ meetings and prayer times
  • report directly to the Lead Pastor

REQUIREMENTS

  • a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited Bible college, university, seminary, or equivalent, with concentration in pastoral ministry
  • a burden for family ministry and an ability to connect cross-generationally
  • experienced in recruiting, organizing and developing volunteer and leadership teams
  • a passion for evangelism and outreach in the community
  • strong conflict management and relational skills
  • experience with Mac, Microsoft 365 (especially Teams and Outlook) and Planning Center Online tools
  • understand church workflows and integrate into the Family Ministry
  • flexible and calm under pressure and/or in emergency situations.
  • actively participate in pursuing genuine relationships with The Bridge Church family
  • maintain regular and transparent communication with the Lead Pastor and leadership team (the elders and ministry staff) regarding ministry-related issues
