Compensation: $50,000 - $65,000 (commensurate with education & experience)

Effective Date: Flexible - Preferably by August 1, 2025
Reports to: Lead Pastor

Synopsis of Role:

Our mandate at Philpott is to make more and better disciples of Jesus. We place high value on discipling emerging generations. The role of the Pastor of Next Generation Ministries is to provide leadership to all ministry areas that impact and serve the next generation within Philpott Church. They will serve as the primary teacher and will seek to shepherd those who attend weekly children and youth ministry. The Pastor of Next Generation Ministries will be the direct supervisor of any paid staff, volunteers, or interns involved in their ministry. They will work closely with all staff members and be directly accountable to the Lead Pastor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pastoral leadership for all Next-Gen Ministries including Bible teaching, worship, discipleship, and outreach.
  • Plan and facilitate a weekly youth ministry program (September - June).
  • Plan and facilitate a weekly Sunday morning kid’s church program.
  • Plan and facilitate an annual week-long summer VBS.
  • Plan and facilitate service in the surrounding community for our youth ministry attendants.
  • Encourage the participation of youth and kids in the life of the church as active members of the Philpott family.
  • Lead, mentor, and equip Next Generation Ministry interns and/or volunteers.
  • Prepare and maintain a ministry budget.
  • Ensure adherence to our Plan to Protect policy.
  • Be involved in assisting and/or leading weekly Urban Ministry outreach with staff team.
  • Ability to preach a few times a year on Sunday mornings
  • Ability to coordinate and/or lead Sunday morning worship, and/or provide pastoral support for the worship ministry, would be considered a valuable asset.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage with and communicate scripture and biblical principles effectively to various age groups through weekly teaching and preaching.
  • Ability to provide long-term ministry vision while staying focused on day-to-day priorities.
  • High degree of creativity and a heart for next generation ministries.
  • Commitment to celebrating and fully including all children and youth, regardless of race, gender, ability, or background, in the life of the church, ensuring they are valued and supported as integral members of the body of Christ.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Student Ministry, Biblical & Theological Studies or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in children and youth ministry.
  • Plan to Protect Certification, or willingness to become certified.
