Being Canada’s capital, this cosmopolitan city beautifully blends history, culture, and nature. With over a million residents, Ottawa boasts a unique identity shaped by bilingualism and a commitment to multiculturalism, drawing people from across Canada and around the world. The city encourages an active lifestyle with its rich array of museums, live theatre, festivals, sports, stunning parks, bike paths, the Rideau Canal for skating, and Gatineau Park for hiking and skiing. Most importantly, Ottawa is a city desperately in need of the gospel, with less than 5% identifying as evangelical Christians (2021 Census).

ABOUT WESTVILLAGE CHURCH

Established in 2016 and located in the heart of the trendy and growing Westboro neighbourhood, WestVillage Church is a dynamic and vibrant multicultural community of 150 believers, including 50 children. We worship together on Sundays and actively serve our community throughout the week.

Our Purpose:  We exist to make disciples who love God, love their neighbour, and make disciples.

Our Vision:  Together, we will reach up, reach in, and reach out. We aim to be an authentic church community radically transformed by Christ, filled with passion and purpose for the Gospel. We are committed to sharing the Good News and caring for our neighbours, especially those in need.

Love for the Church and its Mission: Lead alongside an empowering and God-seeking team of elders, staff, and volunteer ministry leads, with over 80 current volunteers and many exciting opportunities to serve.

Love for the World and a Tangible Impact: Help build and deepen our current partnerships with local organizations like Ottawa Community Housing and the Westboro Region Food Bank to show God’s love to those most in need.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Spiritual maturity: A life marked by biblical qualities of an elder including family prioritization as well as a love to equip others to become more faithful followers of Christ.
• Biblical preaching and teaching: Proven experience in engaging expository preaching and prioritizing the ministry of the Word and prayer.
• Visionary leadership: A Kingdom-focused mindset with experience in implementing a local church vision, navigating change wisely, and collaborating effectively.
• Discipleship: Relationally oriented with a strong desire and experience in leading discipleship efforts and supporting diverse needs within the congregation.

Education and doctrinal requirements: 

• Agreement with and ability to teach in accordance with the  Statement of Faith for the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada. 
• Credentialed by the AGC or eligible for credentialing.
• A Master of Divinity or Master of Theology, with a minimum of seven years of pastoral ministry experience.
• Willingness to live in or relocate to the Ottawa/Gatineau area.
